Well, ray_MAN, it *is* just a beta version, which means it's GOING to have problems. When you finally get it, if their smart, those problems should be gone, and you didn't even have to report any of them! Unless they provide updated versions, the people beta testing won't even see the fixed version until they buy it...

I can't comment on the movies because they're downloading like ass.

Well, it looks like it... runs... nice... other than that, I'm not seeing a whole lot... the physics looks like it might be pretty well done in the singleplayer... seems all the barrels and such were taken out for the multiplayer...

Uh. lol... with a name like "getbeta," I'll just assume you DLed the "beta" (which is much more a stolen build that's way before a beta) and you're judging HL2 on that.

HL2 is far from "graphically poor." The game isn't even out, none of them are. They all have the potential to flop, although doubtful any of them will.

That's a little harsh.. lol, those movies didn't show a whole lot.
The multiplayer looked horribly mediocre, but the single player looked great. We'll see, it looked like lodas of fun either way

Did you see the first vid with the light rays reflecting on the walls. HL2 does not have this feature and I am sure they will not implement it, also this is only one feature out of 100s that Farcry got while hl2 doesn't. DAM

And also we can not forget DOOM3 and stalker they both got better things than HL2 again. So in the end I think HL2 need to push their graphics quality more to deserve to be called "GENERATION GAME".

I know its Sad to think that HL2 ain't better than next year games.

Some of FarCry's vehicle physics look dodgy, personally I think Hl2's physics looked more realistic, plus Hl2's characters and surroundings looked better. HL2's atmosphere is alot better too. Personally I think Far Cry looks a little naff, thats what's putting people off it.

I don't think Doom 3 or Far Cry have HDR lighting either, I know stalker does but thats not comeing out for ages.

I have a question guys.....Is it possible to shot something with a hand Gun and the affect of it can take up to 500Meters?

I mean in the vid the player shot something over the walking path and the distance was like 500-600 meters away and with a hand gun. I don't thin thats possible? am i right?

The physics in Far Cry are better than HL2? ...this is one area VALVe will shine in. They've put much care into implimenting physics from the looks of it, FarCry's vehicle physics look like things go flying as if they weigh nothing. Also, when he throws that brick at the light, it swings incredibly unrealisticly

Anyhow, both games look great; and yes, we all know HL2's lighting is far from top-notch, but who cares.. lighting and shadows seem like novelties now that DX:IW is out

Edit: Also, thought I'd add, judging by the quality of that recent STALKER pre-alpha leak, and the HL2 pre-alpha (?) stolen build, they're both on par with eachother graphically from what I've seen. I'd be more than willing to bet that they'll both look as good graphically in the final products (albiet lighting, we all know HL2's lighting isn't great).

Far Cry will hv a poor story. From the official trailer you can see a monster of some kind and a lab.So guess what - we're back to the hole 'cliche' of -
Military or however lab build in secret island
Making secret experiments.
You stumble in it and kill everyone saving the world of some out-of-control virus or whatever.

So basically the game's story will suck.Even REd Faction had more imagination than that.

The instance ur talking about was not 500-600 meters, by the looks of it. Its at 2:41 into the singleplayer video right? Id say that more like 200-300 meters, not half a kilometer+. And yes, a desert Eagle could easily shoot 500-600 meters, let alone 200-300.

True, the draw distance is impressive and the lushness (is that a word?) looks like its finally done right in a game. I think the best game to compair to Far Cry is Stalker since they are both about survival yet one is in a city and another on a island, so forgive me if I compair those two allot. But I look at the story of Far Cry and it seems lacking in someway. I can see it being the type of story Sprafa mentioned plus things like physics are not as impressive now that it seems all of the next generation FPS are coming out with them. So I guess what I am saying is why should I buy Far Cry instead of one of the other games that seem more interesting that should be coming out next year?

Far Cry in itself looks like a good game and we certainly don't know much about it. Hopefully they will beef up the multiplayer a bit then it will probably be an excellent game. Since I have yet to play it I am certainly not going to bash it or say I won't buy it.
