What will the new features in DoD:S be? When we get more info we can post it all in this thread!

Where have got that infomation? I cant see DoD having vehicles unless they remake the maps and make them alot bigger... or it will suck alot.

Non-official maps

On the initial release, there won't be any differences except for physics, which are there for show and breaking some stuff. And of course graphics up to par with CS:S.

They are thinking about adding a new nation to the game, like the Russians, and since they're redoing all the art anyway, it wouldn't be more trouble to do so.

Thanks for the link Ryan, very usefull.

Yeah, thanks for the link. Didn't know anything about DoD:S

It would be great if physics could be taken advantage of in maps like zalec, especially in the square. :D

I would like to see a new nation added, I always liked playing as the British, but thought them a bit limeted in versatility (having less classes than the others).

I would like to see the russians added to the game.

I wish I hadn't read the entirety of that link, I'm kinda underwhelmed now. It would have been nice if they could have made the first DoD: Source release something spectacular. Not that I'm complaining. Sounds like they could use a bigger team.

I heard theres going to be controllable elephants, that you can send to charge and stop on Nazis.

Well it looks like they plan to put in vehicles :)

Oh of course those elephants!!! Screw tanks

one of the biggest new features is... it has a price this time :(
Vehicles would be fun for some maps but it should be focused on infantry.

Few new features, no vehicles yet. It's just going to be a ported version of 1.3.

Personally, I don't want DoD to leave the Western Front yet. There's still alot of things to add. France, Italy, North Africa(more of seperate model sets)

Holy crap that's a lot of Q&A...DOD source seems like a let down in map quality and newness. Other than that Sounds cool. All I wanted was sand bag bunkers being blown apart by nades.

i cant wait for dod:s. the only type of vehicle id like to see added at a later point would be tanks. they would be devastating and able to blow apart certain key buildings, clear bunkers, break apart cover etc... i would want it to be a game type, where one side has more men and has to stop a tank from reaching a certain point. it would be like the end of saving private ryan.

I hope they add machine gun teams in which one player carries the tripod and the other the weapon. Then one player could feed the ammunition in. Advantages for this could be greater accuracy and a faster rate of fire.

They should change the Thompson, MP-40 and Sten weapon values so that they are individual rather than identical weapons.

I'd also like to see some of the old classic maps, such as heatau, zafod and cherbourg.

Not to be a teamwork basher, but really, except in clans, where else do you expect to see anyone willing to just feed ammunition, and not shoot?

Well...

Well, the only reason why people help eachother on on-line video games is becuase they themselves get something out of it. If by helping the MGer out by feeding him ammo, he could get 1 or .5 of his kills (for every 2nd kill, he gets 1). And even if they don't get anything out of it, there are still the few nice guys willing to do it for the hell of it. (like boosting or giving someone ammo)

Thanks for the link! Interesting read.

I'd have to agree with Malfunction here; I don't really see anyone wanting to take up the position, but it seems like a nice idea nonetheless.

i read that whole thing..............

EDIT :

I am one of those people. Sometimes i'll just go around a map, giving boosts, giving ammo, covering people, etc. Even if they don't appreciate it (most say thx) I still get a kick out if it

It'll take some time, but DOD:S will eventually have as much of a facelift as CS:S, mos tlikely, just not at the first release maybe.

they should make the guns alittle more true to life.

yeah... it would be real sweet to use the pyhsics to knock u out with a flying object in DOD: Source ;)

I think DOD with tanks and stuff would be great, kinda like call of duty united offensive.

I also hope they put in more countries like russia, Italy, Finland maybe

As some people have said before, they're essentially just porting DoD to Source for the first release. But I wouldn't put it past them to give it a graphical overhaul beforehand.

As for future releases, I would like to see some maps that take advantage of vehicles. Not every map, because sometimes I like the pure infantry aspect of DoD. I'm thinking along the lines of Red Orchestra, where some maps allow for more grand battles.

I don't want vehicles. I like it being a pure infantry mano against mano kind of game.
