Good game so far, but I don't like the new font Bioware used this time in the menus. It's too small for my TV and looks smudgy.

I had no problem reading stuff in the codex and journal in ME 1 on the same TV. Ideas? :|

Goddamn. So your saying my only option is to get an HDTV? I wonder if changing the Xbox's black levels from it's default standard setting will help?

This worked in GTA IV, but the font in that game wasn't bright red.

You can also get higher resolutions from your Xbox 360 on a normal PC monitor, using a VGA cable for your Xbox.(or HDMI if your Xbox and monitor have the option)

My PC monitor isn't all that great either tbh. It's only a 1440x900 Samsung. A pretty mediocre monitor really.

I remember having a similar problem with Dead Rising back in the day. Eventually upgraded to a HDTV and POW, problem gone.

The Xbox 360's maximum game resolution is 1280*720, so you'll be fine with that.

Ok, so I've got a 2.1 sound system on my PC, so how do I get sound to work for an Xbox? I've got an HDMI port on the back of the PC monitor, so that's a start.

@ Drackard: True the easiest solution would be to just buy a new f**king TV that supports HD but unfortunately, I can't afford a new one atm. :(

Sometimes, I wonder why people even bother with consoles.

I use a 19" at that resolution for my xbox and it's good enough, certainly preferable to an SDTV.

If your monitor has a 3.5MM audio connector you can use that with a HDMI cable, obviously.

VGA cables for the 360 often come with separate sound connectors, for example this one.(I don't know about the quality of that cable and which connectors your monitor/amplifier have)

I never understood folks that have "next-gen" HD consoles and yet play them on standard def TVs! I mean, the higher definition is arguably the only thing that makes this generation and "better" than the last. Gameplay certainly has not advanced all that much.

But yeah, I think this is a common problem on SDTVs with some games.

I guess buying something to adapt the monitor to the console is cheaper,I was thinking the same thing when I have my ps3

I used to have the same Samsung monitor bro and I used it with my 360 it should work fine, the adapter you need though is $35 iirc

because they're a cheaper solution to next gen gaming? My PC hardware right now is garbage for today's games and I can't afford the price of a whole new upgrade atm.

It isn't like these people (myself included) decide voluntarily they want to play on a SDTV over an HDTV, it's just a money issue. It's either tough it out on a SDTV and put up with the blurry texts, or buy a HDMI cable so I can use my PC monitor instead. Honestly though, the real reason I haven't bothered with trying that option yet is because I'm lazy. I'm just looking for shortcuts tbh. :p

A little bit of text is hardly enough reason to warrant going through all that trouble in most games, but part of Mass Effect's enjoyment is reading through the codex.

I might try this. Thanks.

As soon as I've some spare scratch saved up, I'm visiting NewEgg.
