Created by Texas-based Gearbox Software, Brothers in Arms is the most realistic and authentic WWII shooter ever. While other WWII games have sugarcoated the war experience, Brothers in Arms is based on a true story and will immerse gamers into the gritty, uncensored and emotionally-charged side of war. The game puts you in the shoes of Sgt. Matt Baker, a D-Day paratrooper squad leader, and asks you to lead the squad as you balance their lives with the success of the mission. The true stories and historical events you experience on your perilous journey take you through real battlefields meticulously recreated from aerial reconnaissance images, US Army Signal Corps photos and eye-witness accounts of war-torn Normandy. Players of all skill levels can battle their way through this intense experience because of Brothers in Arms innovative and accessible command and control system

Looks damn hot!!! Source engine maybe?? DoD, MOH and CoD fans will be waiting with baited breath for this game....

Wow, looks nice... I can't wait to see Day of Defeat on Source...

Those character models are kinda odd-looking though... they're like... squished... and the body parts misproportioned...

Or maybe it's just me eyes! :rolling:

it does look pritty dam ****ing good. But it always does on early pictures of games. Until you see a video of it been played screen shots don't mean much. Companies always do it :(

Yes, I saw that... but don't their heads seem pretty big, and their arms and hands a little small in places?

Not to mention they're all pasty and weird-looking... but that's just a preference issue. :)

Look fine to me.
BTW The History channel is showing Band Of Brothers every night right now in the US.

:O Hooo man, looks spectacular. This is one gonna go head to head against MoH: Pacific Assault.

Check this one out:

I think this may imply that this is not your normal linear WWII game...look how big that map is.

/me wants
that first picture i thought was a photo at first, and then i thought it was a mix of a photo and graphics... but now i have come to the more down to earth conclusion that it was obviosly whichcraft.

The iron sight looks like Call of Duty, but the game looks like it has potential to get some serious hype. Looks very good. Noing Ubi-Soft, could turn out to be a WWII version of Rainbow Six 3.
Second of all, don't believe that "Based on a true story", Texas Chainsaw Massacre was "based on a true story"...turns out, the story line was inspired by another REAL true story.

I really wonder what engine they're using. On one hand I think it looks like Source, but in a way it totally doesn't look like Source. But it could be, Gearbox has a good relationship with Valve (Op4 and CZ) en licensing is a hell of a lot faster than creating your own engine.
But regardless of the engine, looks mighty impressive.

Hmmm, team fortress 2 was called Brothers in arms wasn't it?

Don't think I am implying thats what it is btw. Because I am quite sure it isnt. But its a co-incidence, thats all....

Oh and btw, that looks SWEEEEEEEET!!!

I dunno if its source. But its damn good whatever it is.

It could possibly give us a hint to what Ghost Recon 2 may look like, it's using the "Singles" engine and this game may use it too!

That's exactly what I thought, but it turns out TF2 was called Brotherhood of Arms :).

From those screenshots this game looks like a cross between Day of Defeat and Operation Flashpoint, which can't be a bad thing

Oh thats it dæmon. Thanks for the correction.

And yeah, operation flashpoint and call of duty crossed my mind. Which is close enough :)

While we can't say anything about gameplay right now, if you want to see the horror of war aspect you may want to check out Shellshock too.

It looks cool.

Gearbox is pretty good with these kind a stuff, so dont hope anythign but a classic :)

Holy crap!!! I love it when cool stuff like this comes out of the blue. That game looks freakin beautiful. In a way, I was bummed when EA announced that the next MoH would be in the Pacific because the graphics wouldn't go to Europe. Now, the graphics have gone to Europe though, which makes me excited because the ETO interests me the most.

I hope those Iron sights go 3D though.

I like the out of focus effect on the iron sights pic. It's more realistic than seeing both sights completely in focus. You can also see his hand supporting the barrel at the end.

I'm guessing that the tree line in the back of that level is probably as far as you can go on the map, but who knows.

well recently gearbox went on a hireing spree, check out what they were looking for maybe it will hint towards the tech

Looks nice, but, the WWII genre has been done to death. Can't companies think up something new? :|

My God! The all look like... twins...:| And did you see how the clouds leav a shadow the ground? Could be Operation Flashpoint 2 engine, but I seriously doubt that.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not that impressed, but I'll hold back any judgement untill I see video footage.

I agree that WW2 has been done to death, but in my opinon its never been done particularly well. I want a game with comrades I care about. Up until now allies in WW2 games have basically had two effects on me -- "Get the **** out of my way," and "OMG, you died. I don't care." If a comrade died in COD, there was always another right behind them. Lets see some characterization!

Those are hedgerows I believe. They were all over the farms in Normandy. Tanks even had trouble getting through them, so they built big spike trays on the front of Sherman tanks to mow over the hedges. You will probably get to explore a lot of that map.

Games are getting more and more non-linear, and I think this is going to follow that trend. Call of Duty: United Offensive comes out at the same time as this, and Gearbox knows that they need to have the better game.

I would expect ragdoll physics, complex real-time shadows, Real-time lighting (for inside buildings and night missions), and physics for many objects. CoD and it's expansion have no plhysics, no real-time shadoes, and no real-time lighting. Later this year, if your game doesn't at least have physics, then you are in trouble. (in my opinion)

I can't get enough of ww2 games :D

I hope there's a real good athmoshpere in this game..and also some parts that you just walk with your teammates and talk with them.
I recognize a good game when i see it, and from what i see here: this is gonna be a good one

This is gonna be a VERY good year for gamers ..

Looks good.

Hope they could do so you play as a german soldier for once. That's my dream in a WW2 game.
