New Graphics card

I have just gone from a 4200ti 64 meg to a 9800 pro 128 meg in readiness for HL2 and C.S s. My aquamark3 has gone from 23000 to 34600 but I was expecting a bigger jump. Is this about right or is something else holding me back?

Aquamark 3 is not a true DX9 benchmark so it won't show as large of a jump as other benchmarks.
You will get a pretty big jump in games like Battlefield, FarCry, HL2 etc.

The 9800Pro really does well at AA and AF as well. I don't believe the GF4 4200 can handle much of either of those.

No the 4200ti virtually stopped with aa/af enabled

hey, how does that rig play cs:s? i have a similar rig
(amd xp 2400, 768mb pc2100) but i have a 9500 pro (i believe it was ati's card to counter the ti4200). I didnt want to get a 9800 pro because i thought my specs would be a bottleneck. How much of a performance increase have you seen?

I have seen a increase but I have also upped the detail/shadows etc so the fps have not really shot up that much.
There was a bigger improvement in doom3.
