A new Half-Life 2 advertisement is appearing around the internet which, once again, is another indication that Half-Life 2 is getting ever closer. The marketing is well underway with a 200x600 banner on sites such as Slashdot Games.[br]

[br]The banner takes you to a new Half-Life 2 page on the SteamPowered website with instructions on how to pre-load Half-Life 2.[br]
[br]
You can find the new page here.[br]

Special thanks goes to theGreenBunny for posting the news in this forum thread.

cant someone make a similar pic to that one that says "We have been ready for more than a year now" ?

Sweet! I bet there's something big heading this way pretty soon :D

Nice, but I think Half-Life 2 doesn't need much promotion. But it's still cool to see. Maybe we get a tv commercial too, I've seen commercials for Far Cry, NFSU and The Sims 2 and a cool HL2 trailer on tv seems nice to see.

hl2 will give all the promotion it deserves. take the sims 2 for example (and hl2 will probably be far bigger...we all know it)...Channel 4 news in the UK did an entire story on sims 2 and treated it as a headline.

hl2 will be on tv, radio, news etc etc etc.

but anyway...OMG hl2 MUST be close enough to be released by the end of sep/ early oct.

the wait is, as they say, almost over

YES WE NEED THAT! that's would be fricking cool! maybe with the G-Man instead...

Why is it that only the biggest games, the ones that everyone knows everthing about, get the most advertising? When they want to let people know about an iminent release date, all Gabe has to do is tell his barber and after an hour, we'll all know.

OK, maybe not his barber.

Heh heh. I can just imagine the G-man coming on TV and saying:
"We control the horizontal and the vertical."

"Are you Ready?"

Been ready for 3 freaking years... :D

god that would be so cool lol. it would be the ultimate kick in the ass to valve from the gaming community. here's a taste of what we think when you cant be bothered to inform the people who are buying the game in the first place!!

stop telling the media ffs and tell us! the gamers!

oh no wait...post it on this site somewhere, like the news or something...everyone must see it!
Well I'm not a news poster, but if anyone would like to post this, be my guest.

Least you're honest Wiegje

Thoughts still there mind. Don't want to imply that we're intentionally trying to be hostile towards Valve or anything though... appreciation where it's due, eh?

If I saw a TV advertisement for HL2, I would fall off the sofa and begin licking the screen.

Except that would be incorrect. HL2 was announced a mere year and a half ago and has been delayed less then a year (10 days to go) so far. Your eagerness for the game is clouding your perception of reality. :p

Yeah me too :) It'd be absolutely great - unless it was really tacky like "Woah! This game is teh r0xx0rz! look at the graphics! Look how many things you kill! Like, woah!"
It should be kind of dark and intriguing, like the beginning to this year's E3 presentation, highly stylised and mature.
It's a shame that that advert's rubbish. Very lazy.

The old magazine ads for HL1 were pretty good, though.

36 million games sales is why it got news headlines.

even though sims2 will never get 1/3 of that, (the sims sold well becuase a freakin watch had enough power to run it)

Wow, recognition. Woop.

What's restaint? Is it a Photoshop tool to soften colours, i.e., make them less harsh? ;)

OMG I MAKE FUN OF SPELLING AREN'T I BIG AND CLEVER WITH A VIRTUAL PENIS THE SIZE AND DISPOSITION OF MANHATTAN
