New Hip Hop / Rap Music

This song is huge. Part of me would like to see it get as big as Gnarls Barkley "Crazy", but that won't happen because of it's vulgarity.

I couldn't stop listening to it yesterday, best song of the year. I wonder how big it will get without the radio exposure.

It'll still be huge. No one listens to the radio anymore.

I wanna beat up on this song just because it's Kanye West and my expectations couldn't possibly get any lower. But this actually isn't bad if you ignore his singing:

With this and "Power" I'm kind of looking forward to the new album, reminds me in some ways of Graduation and the earlier albums before that. As big of a douchebag as he is the guy has talent, and his last album didn't do him any justice.

Can anyone recommend an Eminem album? I've noticed he's actually a very good lyricist.

He's an extremely good lyricist. Very few rappers can match his flow and word play. I'd suggest the Marshal Mathers LP almost solely because of Stan. The structure of that track alone makes the album worthy. Next The Eminem Show. It's a more worldly Marshal, and it shows. I find his quality wanes after Show so I dunno after that.

Damn, you just found this out? Pretty much everything before his last 2 albums is very good. I would say Slim Shady LP would be the best (Infinite has some a couple good songs, tonight is really good). After that each album gets slightly worse (in my opinion) but like I said still very good up until his last 2.

In fact this thread reminded me just how much I love that album, gonna be bumbing it all day today.

Tbh, as a kid I grew up hating rap and therefor especially hating Eminem (he was huge at the time). My parents and peers raised me on rock and therefor I viewed rappers, especially white rappers, as pretty darn silly. I only started liking hip hop a few years ago.

Always better late than never. I try to get in to other genres and there are a number of non rap songs (and bands) that I like. But for the most part it's just rap for me which I've been listening to since I was in elementary school.
