New Hl2.net Banner design

As there is alot of talk of re-designing the title banner of the HL2.net site, I would like to submit some designs for the guys at HL2.net

Not too bad.. but, not exactly great. Looks better than it is now, IMO. Than again, I'm just sick of what we have..

Edit: I agree with Chuckstar's post below this one, #1 is best of the three

Personally, I don't like them. It's abit too bright, so it doesn't really fit in with what we have now. I kinda like it the way it is now. Except for the scary Alyx face in the banner.
Oh, and out of your three, I like concept 1 the best.

I like #1. doesn't *quite* fit with the site.... maybe make it so it doesn't streach across everyhting?

no.3 looks good but i reckon they need to be a bit busier.

They are all better then the current one, but the text seem alittle "download a photoshop style"'ish.
The placement of gordon and Alyx is good though. (perhaps make Gordons head smaller ?)

I like them better that the current, its pretty good, Im sure I could live with it, if some touches were added to the first, I could really like it.

I dont like em that much, too bright, or simple. Needs to be livened up a bit, Its good work but just doesnt go. If I had to choose, Id go with #2. The look of the "glass" text...I hate it.

Hi guys, thanks for the crits and feedback so far. I tried to keep with the current colour scheme of the current banner and also keep the text of a similar style and layout. Basically what I have tried to achive is a Clear bold and memorable site Ident. I have made a few versions with various composited backgrounds using various imagery, but, to be honest it just distracts from the main logo and site title. As for the "Download photoshop text" This actually took me a lot of work to do and I never use any filters or effect other than maybe blur and some additive dissolves.

I tried very hard to 'fit' the design to the rest of the site, but maybe people are just too used to the current logo? I dont know but if anyone can tell me what more I can do to help it fit it would be greatly appreciated

I will definately go back to them later on this evening and do a bit more tweaking for you guys until it's perfect, as i think it would be an honour to see my art representing this site!

which text did you prefer Terminator? (from which concept?) Im thinking of posting a poll, but I think ultimately the decision on which is best is down to Munro...

I hope all this work isnt in vain
