all i got from it was a bunch of screenshots an and pic of a arcade game

based on the effort of the news post i would say BIG FRICKEN DEAL

It's HL2-related, it's news. I don't see anyone holding you down and forcing you to read it.
 
Notice it's on wheels? The survivor part has less to do with the game, and more to do with a very steep hill ...
 
I want to play this. Try it out. Old school arcade games where the shit.

Serious response: sorry you didn't like it - if you're knocking the style then I can't argue except with my own personal opinion which is "lighten up." However, if you're having difficulty working out what's going on, you might want to try READING or perhaps CLICKING THE LINK. "All I got was a bunch of screenshots." Well, that's what it is. A new bunch of screenshots for the frankly bonkers game HL2: Survivor. What did you expect? A free plush headcrab?

If you're arguing that the news is not important enough to post, then fair enough. But imo it's hardly less important than a hundred other mod news bulletins, and is rather entertaining in its own right.

Also, Dalamari, would you mind cutting that pic down? It's stretching the whole bloody page ye bastard. D:

To get back on topic, I actually really want to try this out :D the idea of HL2 in the arcade is actually quite tempting, despite some stupid looking brightly coloured player models :p. As always Sulk's posts are entertaining, I see no reason to complain.

Why on earth does this game have a female combine elite trooper holding a sniper rifle we never got to play in HL2 ?

Boobs, and a good sniper rifle. Those arcade gamers sure get all the fun.
 
The Japanese market is appalling for home PC game sales (prolly due to the fact that houses/apartments are tiny), so the only real way of getting the halflife 2 name out there is either via console or through arcade games. This arcade game was featured in edge some time back tbh.
 
I'm surprised by all the negative feedback this is getting. It's not supposed to be the same realism as HL2. It's MEANT to be quircky and more arcade-like. Would you rather them be lazy and make a direct port? Why can't you be open minded for 3 seconds, we haven't even seen gameplay.
 
Oh, fa'sho'... all you guys should be aware (because one must figure, most people on this forum are at least semi-avid gamers) that arcade games always have strange little quirks that make them, well, ARCADE GAMES. I'm excited to see this sh^t runnin', and there was a good point made... we haven't even seen it in action yet. Why all the sh^t-talk? Just chill.

Anyway, it's looking good to me, I wish we had more details on the multiplayer modes. It seems to have coop and some Red vs Blue class based stuff. I wonder if Valve owns that content and if they'll consider releasing it (atleast the Red vs Blue bit) as an extra (free?) add on for the current Half-Life 2 or another episode.

Somebody is making an Arcade version of HL2, including the whole machine! I say that's pretty unique and worth posting.

This is one weird-looking game. With each appearance, it looks more and more like it's straining at the leash of the Half-Life license.

Of course stuff had to be changed in bringing HL2 to the arcades. But I wonder why they didn't just develop it as an orignal shooter?


In any case, it will probably look like this by the next time we see it :p
 
Eh that's just for multiplayer you know, red vs blue, (which imo looks nifty). The single player remains largely unchanged from what we've seen so far. For arcade games you need everything more emphasised (just look @ the hud) as you aren't sitting at home relaxed... I'd actually like to see this converted and added on some other episode or completely free (if you own HL2 itself). Looks like it could be a nifty cross of Team Fortress ideas with HL2 gameplay and style.

What a retarded thing to say - Japanese gaming is seeing huge increases every year, and the Japanese are some of the highest users of PC games AND console games in the world. And guess what budy - I live in a tiny studio apartment, and use my PC as a games machine, TV, DVD recorder and stereo - it takes LESS space to use a PC than any other combinations of machines.
 
What the heck, isnt this version of "Half life" old news? I remember seeing this months and months ago.

Strange vision it tosses about the enemy unrestrictedly with action and uniqueness equipment!
There is no strength where basic ability durability raising especially flew other than thing and, could pull out.
But, as for equipment the special weapon of the gravity cancer/gun and trap type is complete, the job whose technical fight is possible.

gotta love translations. :D

Its inclusion in Survivor suggests a good enough reason why we'll never get them (they're only crap enough to turn up in such an overdone and silly game?). And they're clearly in the multiplayer game only.

Also, those HUDs are not only obscenely ugly, they're cluttered and confusing to boot.

The Japanese do love their games, however about 95% of the sales are console games not PC games (consoles will play your DVDs as well ;) )however if you still want to bitch about it I suggest you take it up with the writers of EDGE magazine as they are the people I'm referencing. I'm sure you can enlighten them to the real facts.

I'm also going to take a wild guess from your offensive manner that you are neither Japanese or have an actual clue as to how small a Japanese studio apartment is.
 
i remember reading about this version of Half Life2 a while back :)
definitely i am still interested and would like a chance at it.

The arcade machine is old news but the new screenshots aren't - and the screenshots are what we're reporting on. When we newspost about something for the first time it's customary to explain it. Sorry if it wasn't clear that it's the screenshots that are new, not the machine itself.
