New hottness (PS2)

I hate it when they do this, it makes me regret having bought it in the 1st place.
 
Luckily for me, I've been eyeing a PS2 purchase. I had been happily playing it at my friend's house, but with MGS3 and GTA3 coming soon I thought it had finally come time to buy my own. I think this new version has sealed the deal.

I've sold my Dreamcast some 3 years ago to get the PS2, sold the PS2 to get an Xbox a few months ago.

Next-gen is coming soon, so I'm saying goodbye to my Xbox.
 
Pretty neat. Definetly the way to go for consoles and something that would actually make me consider buying one. Something you can easily take with you.

not to discourage u from purchasing it or anything else for that matter... but if don't own one yet, why bother now?

the next Playstation isn't too far off now...anyway don't let this stop u :p

but if here in my country is more cheaper than fix my damaged PS2 I will buy it

My PC is my main gaming rig. But I love MGS and I think GTA just works better on a console (I'm also looking forward to Gran Turismo 4), so far I've been getting away with my MGS fix on my friend's PS2. The ongoing price war with Xbox and Gamecube has driven the PS2 price down big enough that I can now justify a purchase and pick up console games that I've been wanting to try out for some time now.

I'll probably wait another couple of years after PS3 comes out so that its library of games (and technology) matures.

:) **** that! i'm just going to buy one so whenever I bring a chic over she'll say,"OMG! What is that cute lil thing you have there!? Is that your little brother!? So CUUUTE!" Then i'll get laid. :) We can dream right?
 
Wow, at least it comes with its own modem. If it comes with some sort of HDD and ends up cheaper than the PS2, then I'm going to be one angry mother ****er. Buying that stuff separately was a pain in the ass.

The North America version with come with modem and ethernet built-in. It will not be compatible with the PS2 HDD (and therefore HDD-reliant games), and it will be released the first of November at $149.

Still a better reason for getting that instead of the original PS2. The HDD so far is only good for FFXI, and the PC version just annihilates it.

Oh well, it's better to wait for the next gen consoles anyway.
 
Why do so many sites show it as a Europe only release? Are all of us Americans getting it too, or is this something that Sony is only doing for Europe? (Gamespy, for example, has the headline, "Slimmer PS2 Hardware Coming To Europe...")

I want one :(

I believe it's coming to Europe and North America at the same time and then to Japan at a later date.
