New iMac Vids

the mac must have been old it's been around a number of years ..they made a big deal of it when they added a second button ..heh not that you couldnt buy any old mouse with a shitload of buttons

if you think that mouse was hard to work with you should try using this mouse ..worst design ever and one of the few design mistakes apple has made

Well i was never saying Mac's were shit, was having a go at the advertising portraying the Mac as the infinitely better machine when it suffers (i believe) faults of its own

I know that - but this thread is just going to descend into the age old silly argument of mac vs. pc, and I'm tired of hearing about it. And I think I was drunk when I posted last night anyway.

I just have a problem with the way most people look at the entire supposed Mac VS. PC debate here's the genreal concensus

Mac "fanboy": Our machines are reliable and rarely crash, they are better with multi-media tasking and casual use, as well as being more friendly to the average household user.

PC "fanboy": Our machines play the latest and greatest games, are more powerful and flexible as well as upgradable.

Having worked with both PCs and Macs I'd have to conclude that it depends on exactly what it is you want to do - video and sound editing on macs is not flawless and I've encountered moments in Imovie and Garage Band of complete lockups and stalling, compatability issues and driver cripes, all sorts of bullshit that it seems Apple constantly brags to have conquered into a seamless process. And as we all know PCs have flaws as well. In the end it comes down to acessability and user friendliness (mac) vs. flexability and software available (pcs) and the ceaseless arguements never change anything.

:p

Damn drunks!

;)

I don't get the user friendliness issue either. People go on about Macs being easy to use for the average person. 100% not true.

Plug a memory stick/USB device and windows will usually detect it and automatically and show you your pictures or whatever. And with regards to programs, they're equally as hard to use as Mac programs.

If you bought a mac but still had a pc you'd come to the conclusion that both have their merits

There is a lot of truth to what Stern says. If people are one or the other then they favour their purchase. We use Macs in my practice because by and large they are generally trouble free and fairly easy to use when it comes to getting about. Personally for home use I favour PCs firstly because there's a much wider choice of cutting edge software available to me, secondly games and thirdly I can upgrade a PC far more easily. In my experience People don't really upgrade Macs, they just buy a new model 3 years down the road.

I'd also say that it's a bit of a misconception that Apple and Microsoft are direct competitors because Microsoft are selling a universal OS, whereas Apple are selling custom made boxes. Their real competition are the likes of Dell.

Macs are great for media related things.

PCs sell themselves by showing the customer all the good things they can do like play games, do homework, surf the internet, run servers, etc, etc, etc, etc. Apples sell themselves by trying to make PCs look bad...who has the better machine, you decide.

lol at typical fanboi response ..it has no right mouse button!!!! well yes it does, it's had right clicking for a few years now ...and besides how many of you use a generic mouse that came with your computer? purchased one speparately didnt you?
