The newest issue of Game Informer magazine has a cover story on BioShock, the upcoming first person action-RPG from developer Irrational Games and publisher 2K Games. The article contains the first details about the game since its inital announcement in a GameSpot story way back in late 2004. According to the article BioShock takes place in the early 1960's where your player character finds himself in the middle of the ocean, the victim of an apparent airplane crash. Through a series of events your character finds himself going underwater and finding an undersea complex called Rapture, which was set up in the 1940s as a kind of utopian complex that failed. BioShock takes place mostly in Rapture as you deal with and fight with its citizens, and the RPG aspect comes into play as your character has abilities upgraded by Plasmids, including upgrades to weapons, psi powers and even a crafting system where the player can create new weapons and items.. The game is due out for the PC and Xbox 360 (and maybe the PS3) in 2007.

I have HOT'S for this game even more..

PM me for more ;)

some details

* A gameplay based on the choices of the player and personalization (of its character).
* The play proceeds at the beginning of the Sixties.
* The principal objective of the developers is to plunge the player in the history.
* The adventure begins in the medium from the ocean, whereas one finds oneself encircled remains and that one tries to survive.
* There will be marine creatures discovered by scientists (what the fans of the Surface series will surely like, from which the first season just comes to finish).
* "We create a world with living. What you do depends only on you, and you will have to assume the consequences of your choices ".
* One of the characteristics of the character is the agility, and the fact of moving more quickly.
* The majority of the improvements will affect the weapons.
* One will be able to create weapons and objects
* One will be able "to pirate tricks" while becoming engineer.
* A solution with the play would be useless, insofar as one does really what one wants as one wants.
* BioShock contains many mysteries.
* And, last goal not least : the play is envisaged on PC and, surprised gross, Xbox 360.

Wow! Sounds really cool. Any screens in the mag? I might just buy this issue for this.

I read an article(maybe this) last week that was up on the HOTU(Home Of The Underdogs) forums, but it sounds hyperistic, also, they claim that one can't do a walkthrough for the game, how the hell is that possible?
That whole article sounded like it was put together by a bunch of PR wankers who hadn't even played the game..

Here's hoping it's good tho, tbh, the timeline might make or break the game for me.:)

coooool :D
i need to see some screens and videos for it

Yeah, this is the article I mentioned in the System Shock 2 thread and it is just terrific. The game looks and sounds very cool. By the time it comes out, I should have done a serious upgrade too, so running this beauty shouldn't be a problem. :E

I can't wait \o/ :)

(glad to hear it's coming out on the 360 too - will save a load of cash on upgrading)

Sounds intriguing to say the least...

It looks great, but how exactly does a guy washed up in a bunker build a weapon or piece of equipment?

/me goes for a walk and builds himself an assault rifle out of garbage

Maybe there's book you can read in the game?

whoa I was expecting more conceptart and mockups, seems they finally released actual in game screenshots(hope they aren't manipulated) these looks great! seems whoever had the magazine agrees:x don't know if you noticed but it seems as if he masturbated on some of the pics :x

anybody know if they're using a licensed engine or if it's their own?

less scans plx

Oh, and /splurge :D :D :D

linking to other sites that's have scans against the rules?

I mean technically he didn't post the scans on this forum...just linked to another fan site, shouldn't be getting you in any trouble.

I've seen the scans on another forum and this game looks very promising. The things I liked to see was the fact that they're not really catering for noobs. Also the whole not being able to use a walkthrough is doable, it's next-gen game play, something we haven't really seen yet, it's all been about next-gen graphics...pah!

Though that's not to say some form a linear structure won't be forced upon the game, for instance I doubt the entire Rapture complex is randomized, there'll be some forced progression from one area to another just player experiences in those areas will be different.
