New Info on Gamespot's "On the Spot"

I'm NOT evading reality. I'm merely stating what OTHER reviewers have said from their gameplay experiences. You know the PC Gamer US guy who completed it in 17 hours but said he could see it going a little above 20. Or the European reviewers who said it took them around 19 to 20 hours.

THAT is reality too my friend!

Your are aware that reveiwers play throught it on easy ? well the vast vast majority of them.

If you play on Normal or even Hard + exploration time etc etc it will go 23hours+ and the replay value

HL1's script: 19 pages
HL2's script: 150 pages

Can't wait to read the whole thing!

The guy didn't sound very enthusiastic about it, when compared to the high reviews it go...hmm.

Interesting video.

Well he was trying to plug his article, not really the game.

Well, he did that well, can't wait to read it!

Even though the guy says it's 15 hours, it's good to know that the game feels longer than that. That's good enough for me to know. I mean halo 2 and Far cry are just about that long too.

Doom 3 was extremely linear, but felt long as hell as it was boring. I hope this is not the case with HL2, though.

Oh yea...Delta Labs 1,2,3... ZZzzzZZZ

Alpha Labs 1,2,3... *Dies of sheer boredom*

Saying that, I completed it in 2 days, simply because I wanted to see the cool bosses.

Thing is most developers overestimate the game length, Doom 3 - 30 hours, then reviewers also tend to do this, Doom 3 - 20 to 25 hours. It ended up being a 15 hour game for me which was long enough sure.

But if a reviewer is suggesting 12-15 hours, it might well actually be 7-10, which scares me.

12-15hours aint bad. Its not great but its not bad...you cant expect a FPS to last as long as a game like FF or GT. It took me about 25 hours to complete FarCry the first time and i played on challenging. I plan on playing HL2 on its hardest setting first time so i reckon it will last about 25 hours for me :D

DOES ANYONE READ PREVIOUS POSTS?!? THE OTHER MAGAZINE REVIEWERS HAVE SAID IT TAKES BETWEEN 17 TO 20 HOURS ON NORMAL!!! THIS GUY MORE THAN LIKELY PLAYED IT ON EASY TO GET THROUGH IT ALL!!!! ARRRRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!

Dude calm down, speculation is all. Good god.

Alright I'm calm. I'm just stating that the GS guy's estimate was substantially different from what ALL of the other reviewers have said so far which leads me to believe that he played the game on the lowest difficulty setting in order to complete the game and write his review/article.

For example, PC Gamer US said that they finished on "normal" at about 17 hours but the reviewer said that he could "easily" see stretching the game to over 20 hours because of all the exploration/experimenation you could do.

Several of the European magazines who also played the game on normal said it took them between 19 to 20 hours to complete the game.

The Gamespot fella's estimation is notably different than everyone else's that leads me to believe that he is either "uber gamer" or that hey played it on the lowest difficult setting.

I hardly think you'll be able to play through Half Life 2 on normal in 7 to 10 hours. On easy if you're uber gamer? Perhaps. But this is not the way Half Life 2 was meant to be played :)

even 15-20 hours seems stupidly short for 5 years work but when you can quote from PC GAMER UK (very similar to this)

"The idea that people have made this world by hand is just ridiculous, impossible, the intricate detail from the mess in the corridors to the rust and peeling paint, its just too real"

THAT's what took the time, just play the game remembering people have MADE this world. Amazink =)

Movies only last a couple of hours, and you just sit there wishing you could get up to piss.

It will probably take me the standard time to play through it, but unlike some of you, I will span that over probably two weeks.
