Looks absolutely fantastic! One of the best graphics I have ever seen on the Playstation2.
Looks like it can beat ICO's graphics too. :)

Guerilla has made a really stunning looking game. Good to that they released some really clear pictures now so you can see all the details in the game.

One thing I'm just worried about is the frame rate, hard to believe if they can make this game run in 60fps with this graphics.

Well, time will tell. Killzone will be released Q4 2004 in Europe, so they have plenty of time left. :)

Love it! I've wanted Killzone since i first heard of it...looking stunning, and apparently it runs perfectly at 60fps...I'm abit unsure of that, i can sense some slowdown at points...but pfft, i dont care, its a game, it cant be perfect.

Thanks for the info, I'll wait patiently for its release now...

they brag that there facial animation system leaves hl2's in the dust -gamepro says anyways... I sincerily doubt that

The indoor environment looks absolutely sucktastic.

The outdoor environment looks on par with STALKER I'd say.. but hey, console vs PC game.. can't really compare

Anyhow, why were the first 3 shots generally the same, albiet different parts of the reload? then there's the shot staring at the ground.. whoever took those shots needs to learn how to take cool shots :)

Anyhow, definitely looks good, from the first shots I saw of this game I thought "wow, I can't see that running smoothly on the PS2," here's to hoping it's great :)

Its console, it'll never be able to be better then PC. In the console vs PC wars, the PC will win with graphics everytime, even with the X-box, the graphics are crap compared to PC graphics...console's cant win when against PC's.

But i can imagine the facial animations will be good...even though everyone in the screens wear a mask :cheese:

Erm...why does it say bAbYhEaDcRaB posted last...when my post is after his? :/

posting is awol since new class system... I dont get it either

So, people talk about this game, like it is the end of this world, just because it looks good on PS2? Anything special gameplay wise or just another boring FPS?

its pathetic when I see low frames per second on a console because everyone has the same specs so the developers should cater to that... so I like to see a good polished fps for console

That's some nice graphics on the ps2...But, it still looks kinda crappy. The ps2 is horribly jaggy.

It doesn't look like it features real-time lighting, or environmental bump/normal-mapping. The polygon counts look low, and some other things.
But, this game does look intruiging. I can say the characters themselves are impressive, and the action looks intense. The only thing I'd change is the whole "Halo-killer" thing. This is far from it.
1. They're going to implement a radar, like Halo.
2. They're going to implement melee attacks, like Halo.
3. They're going to implement an over shield, like Halo...

Funny how it will be 3 years since Halo's original release, before this "Halo-killer" sees store shelves. Then again, they'll probably call it a "Halo 2-Killer," by then.

Still, I think it'll be impressive on the Gameplay and Mechanics levels.

Listen, Guerrilla nor Sony has said anything about it being a "Halo-killer", it’s the media that calls it a "Halo-killer".

And I read in a Swedish magazine called SuperPlay, they interviewed the person behind Killzone and he said something like this "We were working on Killzone before we even heard of Halo..."

And what do you mean with this that Killzone is copying Halo because it uses melee-attacks, radar system and a overshield armour?

Then games like Call of Duty, MoH: Frontline, MoH: Spearhead ect. are copying it too, because they use melee-attacks.

And have you played Warhammer 40 000k on PS2? It uses a overshield armour just like Halo.

This game is wikid but too bad its only for PS2, I hop they going to release a version for PC

it looks great for a ps2 game.......but i dont think saying it looks as good as stalker or HL2 would be accurate.

and the reason is because there is no power to drive the complex technology that both S and HL2 got. If this game got released on PC platform and they changed the technology to the latest ones of D3 and HL2 this game will be added to my shoping list next summer.

its going to Suck, it wont even make it our for the PS2 probably, more like for the PS3

From what I could see of the indoor environment (the guys arm and gun are in the way), it doesn't look like anything special. It looks unaturally bright inside, with no special lighting. The outdoor environment looks okay, but has some heavy distance fog, like most console games.

Nobody still answered to me why this game is so great, expect it having “r0xorz graphics” for a PS2 game.

BECAUSE IT HAS GUNS!

No-one can answer that question at this time of period, we have to wait and see what gaming sites say about it when they have tested the game.

iamironsam: Like most console games? Have you seen Jak & Daxter, Jak II or Ratchet and Clank before?

Jak II:

R&C/R&C2:

All this games runs at 60fps, except Jak II that have some minor slowdowns at some points.

Consoles CAN do long draw distance, no doubt about it.

Utgardaloke? :cheese: :cheese: :cheese: :cheese: Just det...

I hope you weren't trying to impress me with those screenshots, cause, ewww.

Killzone looks alot better than all the examples you gave. It makes up for that detail by using a lot of distance fog. Like many other console games of comparable detail. Simple.

Eh, of course not. I don’t know how games must look to you before you think they look good.
To me, those examples look very good.

Like always, you must play those games before you judge it. Simple.

And why I showed you those screenshots, because to show that consoles can do long draw distance games.

You're right, consoles are able to large draw distances. I should have been more specific when I said that most use distance fog. Most console games that have high levels of detail use distance fog. Its a hardware limitation, and one of the reasons that I prefer computer games over console games.

Loke, the games you showed to us, these screenshots, are all have limited movement. What do I mean? Developers already planned where player can go, so all the things at the background have low res textures, low polygons. It’s all an illusion, a good one for that matter. I think FPS games give you a little more freedom of movement, than platformers or racing game, fighting games, whatever. But still, I am not a graphic whore anymore, if a game is fun, I will play it. I don’t need all the setting maxed out, if a game is good, it will immerse me without state of the art graphics.

Yes, I know. But what I meant is that console games can make long draw distance like I have said 2 times before. :)
I'm not talking about the level of detail, just the draw distance.

Just like me then. These games that I showed, doesn’t have those great textures like S.T.A.L.K.E.R has, but I love every bit of those games.
It's not the draw distance nor graphics that makes me love it, it’s the fascinated gameplay that impresses me.

I'm not saying that graphics is worthless in games, but would anyone play an extremely boring game but with awesome graphics?
Well, rather awesome gameplay and extremly bad graphics in my humble opinion.

One new video, not official (yet) and the quality are not very good.

But it sure does look real good! Reminds me very much about Half-Life 2, when the dropship hovers over the ground and a squad of Helghasts coming down from it. :)
Nice reload animation when he puts a grenade into the weapon too.
