New MechWarrior Game?

Mechwarrior 2 was my personal Favorite, i played that game so much back in the day.
 
I found the single player pretty fun for mechwarrior 4.

Def worth a buy *cough*torrent*cough*
 
Oh believe me, I'm in no position to be paying for anything this month :3
 
I want another Earth Siege. Earth Siege 2 was the best. Perfect joystick game.

Hell yes this is excellent news, MW4 was forever ago and it's about damn time we got another Mechwarrior game. I used to play the shit out of MW4, and yes Stigmata it's great, especially now that 2 and 3 are considerably dated. One of my roommates and I play Mech Commander and MC2 sometimes.

I wonder if I can find MW4 to reinstall...

Anyone remember Mechwarrior Mercenaries? the first 3D game to have light-sourced projectiles :D Watching those PPC bolts light a trail across the flat blank desert floor was awesomeness.

A shiny new shilling to anyone who identifies the mech that foot belongs to in the vid...
 
Haven't read the link yet... but have any of you heard of Mechwarrior Living Legends? Mod for Crysis engine. Officially sanctioned.
 
Yeah, I follow them on moddb ( http://www.moddb.com/mods/mechwarrior-living-legends ). Pretty big undertaking but if they ever release I'm playing it for damn sure.

I wonder if MW4 multiplayer still works? We could play ... although it's been years since I played and I need some practice to get back in shape with the controls. I just love customizing my mech and battling with it. I usually go for light mechs, make them super fast and lightly armored, jump jets if I have the weight for it, and just a couple of huge ass guns.

Wait, wait, this game has online multiplayer too? I NEED THIS.
 
Yes. The microsoft in-game MP browser doesn't work anymore, nor does MSN gaming zone, but you can still play MP by direct IP connect (there are still a handful of servers afaik). If anyone wants to play I'd be down but only for vanilla MW4 (Vengeance) since I don't have either of the expansions.

But I want to be a clanner this time. I've had it with saving the Inner Sphere and fighting in the FedCom civil war.

I'd be up for some games of MW4 if we do get them up. I call Timberwolf.
 
You guys praising Mechwarrior 4 are morons, Mechwarrior 4 was very arcadey compared to MW2 and MW3.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting more information on the new MW game this Thursday.

Black Knight and Mercenaries were the shit...can't imagine playing MW4 without them. Vengeance was boring in comparison.

Can't wait for this, just as long as it's not like mechassault.

MW4 is good, MW2 is good, MW3 is good, both Mech Commander games are good, we aren't morons for praising MW4, you're a moron for caring.
 
Ah yes, the "MW2/MW3 simulators were better" elitism. Get over it. MW4 series were good, arcadey but overall the most fun of the series. I wish more games were made like MW4... :-\
 
To anyone reinstalling Mechwarrior: Mercenaries visit this site. They have the primary mod (there is NBT-Hardcore, but it's got even less active players).

Download PR1 from the official Microsoft Mechwarrior site, then download and install MekPak 3.02a from MekTek's servers and then download and install 3.02b bugfix. Also, get MekMatch because Microshaft pulled the plug on us about 18 months ago for ZoneMatch support. For support just talk to the people on the MekTek forums.

Maps! There are assloads of user-made maps. The NetBattleTech CDs are the best way to get all the maps you need. If you want to play on Sunder II (Mission Play, the best kind of play) then you need the Sunder Map Pack for all the maps that are on Sunder II.

If you have questions post on the MekTek forums, there's plenty of people waiting to help you in the MechWarrior 4 section.

Hey calm down, I was just a bit agitated by something else and I apologize for being a jerk, I enjoyed MechWarrior 4 too, especially with the MP-focused mods, it doesn't really have anything to do with elitism, MW2 had its own share of flaws, it just has a special place because it was my first experience with the BattleTech universe, MW2Mercs to be specific.:)
 
MW4 is avaible on Amazon for $20 btw and for $65 you get the game with all the addons.
 
Finally a new mechwarrior game. My favorite was mw3 too bad I can't make it work properly on modern hardware. All the battle I had with my friends via dialup back then. The only thing I didn't like about mw4 was that you could not create crazy custom mech. I want my Annihilator

Oh also, about MW4 arcade style and MW2/3 sim style, while I enjoyed the arcade feel of MW4 it sucked when the Tesla Battletech pods became Firestorm. I miss controlling all my generators.
 
True, but crazy custom mechs (and mech loadouts) can lead to balance issues. Like strapping 12 MGs to a Mad Dog and thus creating a quick mech that can blow pretty much anything apart at point blank in a couple of seconds.

It's ridiculously overpriced.
