Hey there:

I am not new to PC games, but sort of new to playing online. I've played Half Life, Unreal Tournament 2004, Postal 2 (one of my favorites !!), Ghost Recon, Medal of Honor, and a few others. I just finished playing Halflife 2 (loved it !!) and have been playing HL2 Death Match a little online. I am interested in playing Counter Strike source. My question is if there is some good info somewhere to better understand what advantages other players have (besides experience) that might help me. Also what servers will allow a player with moderate skill. I AM NOT asking for any cheats or anything of that nature, just some helpful hints. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

PS. This is my second PC I have built.

Asus A7V8X-X
AMD XP3000 @ 2166 Mhz
1024 MB RAM
GeForce 3 Deluxe
Sony CPD-G520 21" flat CRT
Logitech wireless trackball mouse

If you always camp with an AWP, you'll probably be #1 :p

i think in general most people on these threads support new players just joining any server and getting experience. just ignore the other guys if they complain that u die an that, coz they were once new as well.

Try picking up a really good, responsive mouse, and/or a good mousepad (like anything by RatzPadz), that might give you a little boost. Aside from that, just gotta play and bust a cap in some people.

edit: Oh hohooh oh... and welcome to the forums :p

I know my trackball mouse is good. The screen moves as fast as I can roll the ball. I guess it boiles down to just spending time online. I just got done with some Death Match on three different servers and kept close to the lead for longer than before. I am getting used to the maps and that helps a bunch. Anyways thanks !!!

Tips for CSS:

- Learn the basics of the maps
- Learn how to use flashbangs without flashing teammates
- Strafe corners
- Walking instead of running can really help you out, since the enemy can't hear your footsteps
- Aim at the neck/head and always burst fire 1-3 bullets (Depends on the guns of course)
- Shooting while crouched makes it easier to hit, but makes you more vulnerable to headshots.
- Stick with a few teammates that know how to work as a team
- Provide cover fire, but don't steal every frag you can
- Act mature and you won't be kicked :)

Edit: Low mouse sensitivity is a good thing to get used to. My sens is 1.0.

Welcome to the forums BTW :E
