Im thinking about buying a new LCD screen but i hear the resolutions and brightness and stuff suck, plus they are expensive. Right now i have a 15inch view size, nice monitor though....Samsung SyncMaster 700NF, but im looking for like a 17inch viewable, anyone prefer anything, something around 200-350 off the internet..i wont buy shit at any retail store.

well, if you have your eyes set on an LCD than lcd you should buy.
Theres many things that go into LCD and CRT's monitors. If its just for gaming than maybe a NEC/Mis 17in with a contrast of 300-400-450/1. Those with a higher contrast ratio will give you a better picture.
Its going to run around 399-420* shipped. Check pricewatch/googlegear/newegg (if you have a paypal acct.) then those are the places I would shop.
If you want a CRT than the 19in Sonys GS or CPD-s (269-399) models are farelly cheep since SOny isnt making anymore CRT's and are going to for the LCD and PLasma stage.
But dont buy anytihng without checking pricewatch first. It'll help you find the lowest prices around town. "just Be-carefull"

my Sony e540/b 21. was the best buy ive ever bought on line.. next to my cpu

I just bought a new moniter 1 hour ago. It's a Samsung SyncMaster957MB (Magic Bright). It's a 19" and it's awesome!

best monitors out there at the moment are from samsung and viewsonic, i prefer viewsonic by a large margine.

for the price viewsonic is great...but i wouldnt go so far as to say
"the best"

Im getting a veiwsonic 19" ultra bright silver and black CRT monitor soon

for gaming i really dont think that lcd moniters are up to it yet.. as soon as sub 16ms response time ones come out then i think i would look to upgrade.. for now though u can pick up a decent 17" CRT for just over £100 OcUK has some great mitsu ones..

i would wait for a few months before buying an LCD moniter especially if its going to be for gaming.. thats what im doing :)

How bad are TFT screens for games? Do they get better for games if you buy larger ones?

I'm currently using a 17" CRT but I might want something bigger.
