Gabe said "I've been slapped upside by EJ. Some of the translations may be text only, and it may not make sense or be possible to ship them all at the same time.

So basically I was full of crap. "

**Thxs gabe for the new info, as long as yer posting its all good :)**

as long as the english version is shiped first ill be fine ;)

Actually most people would take this as bad news, i look at it a little differntly. It almost sounds as if gabe is saying, Look... the game is ready and people have been waiting for a whyll, we can release the game to get it moveing and then finish the translations since most of those countrys have special laws for games anyway. I hope they have the ability to release it world wide but its good to see they arent letting anything hold it back for any un nessasary amount of time.

lol man if they can ship the full english game now, SO BE IT! :D

They should finished the game up and then adapted it for other countries.

I think the plan was to hold it till all done... considering "i read it back when hl2 was first delayed" that they were working on finishing the translations they must have changed the game alot :).... but like my other thread yesterday said... doom 3 is knocking on the door... do you want to open the door with out yer crowbar near by?

I like it when games are released first in other countries sometimes, because all of those people find a crap load of bugs which are then fixed before i get the game. so i don't anything wrong with them releasing the game ASAP in the languages that are ready.

hmm i just sent him an email yesterday asking that but he didnt reply, ah well that works too... :|

I agree

i wonder why gabe doesnt post here... :(

Would have looked a bit unfair if Gabe picked this one to post on. What with all the other things. And with all the site fighting that goes on, giving them another reason to hate us wouldn't have been smart. So Gabe posted on the newest one to give it a chance, Erik is posting on hlsource i think, and Greg is posting over here. That way everyone SHOULD be happy :p

So its probably an effort to try stop the fighting and bitching that goes on by attempting to make things a little more fairly spread out.

I needed a translator to just to understand some of your words.

they should just release the game and work real hard and get a language patch out a week later, i doubt it would kill u guys if ya had to wait a week after the english version released.

Release the game and get to work on the localization after , and yes a I'm an "international" fan , but heck I'd just kill myself if I had to play it with a spanish voice cast for example hahaha that'd be soo ugly. Specially since south american and european ways of speaking spanish aro so different, hell that even happens in south america alone, but dubs usually get done in some country using a "generalised" version of the lang and everything works just fine. But guys at valve if oyu want localization , get subtitles in the game in dif languages, period. Voice dubs and other stuff can be done after shipping!
