i recently recieved my monthly issue of GI or a.k.a. Game informer. As i was skipping through the pages, something caught my eye. It was news about Xbox 2. So i thought ah the heck, so i read about it and bam i almost fainted. I Quote "Rumors are also flying around a couple of other high profile games: Half-Life 2 islikely to be among the first releases " and if that wasnt enoguh i was skimming throught the rest of the pages til i hit the calender. Now if im correct valve struck a deal with the makers of bloodlines so that Half-Life 2 would come out first. Well i went to the calender page of GI and saw that on October 26th Vampire Bloodlines is suposed to come out. So if im correct HL2 should be coming out soon its just that valve is probroly being sneaky about it. NOTE: THIS IS JUST A THEORY BASED UPON THE MAGAZINE

This could mean something, but its most probably the mag getting their dates wrong.

Great news! Don't really care about the Xbox, thing, but the release date news is great!

your welcome. im just trying to do my part here at HL2.net

Yeah, the first releasedate of Bloodlines was october 12th, which recently moved to 26th everywhere. Could mean something, since there were claims that Bloodlines has been done for a long time now.

Ehh sorry, I was supposed to say "thanks" right? Well, thanks!

But if HL2 is gonna be on the Xbox 2, will the graphics be good? Valve said they would tone them down so it would work on the Xbox.. But now they are saying Xbox 2, does that change anything?

good old detective work.

That sounds very interesting. If your claim holds up..I'll give you a cookie....a very big cookie. :cheese:

Xbox 2 will probably be as good as our PC's are now graphics wise (maybe not as crisp because of TV ressolution). Consoles usually take a big leap when they change generation...i mean compare GT2 on ps1 to GT3 on ps2...amazing ammount of difference. HL2 will probably be a straight port.

Anyway i just hope HL2 is out soon, im bored now ive quit my current MMO and waiting for WoW that has no release date ;( i need a good game quick!.

it's not a deal, its a stipulation of Valve's engine license agreement.
Troika can't release Bloodlines until HL2 is out, because bloodlines uses the Source engine.

Originally Valve had an agreement with the makers of Vampire about not releasing the game before HL² gets out. I read in this month's PC Gameplay edition (the magazine with the first announcement of the HL² review) that they changed that agreement; Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines may now also be released even if HL² gets delayed again. So it's quite sure that Vampire will be released end of October, but that still doesn't mean that HL² gets released before that date.

there goes my theory...

HL2 is done, so basically we are waiting for someone to say run with it and start producing the game.

That's an interesting twist there affen. Good on Valve for letting them release instead of forcing them to delay even more, which would certainly cost them money and fans.

Bloodlines has been finished for a long time. It was on Pulse AT LEAST 3 months ago that it was finished but couldn't be released until HL2 was out.

Why does it have to wait until HL2 is released?

I got news from my pet dildo called CHIKITA. He flopped around and said that HL2 was actually a code name for a secret dumpster where you can warp though time.

I don't give a silly crap about foreigne magazines and supposed news from people who don't even have a clue. Even the best magazines are laughable when it comes to {acurate} news.

TAke your magazine and wipe your arse wit'em. NEXT question!!!

Actually, according the leaked Xbox 2 specs (if they are real), graphics may be better. Ram may not be as much as high end PC's are nowadays but the Chipset will be more advanced than today’s graphics cards. It will be crisp because the games will be in High Definition. I still think it will be released on the Xbox, but it would be a smart move for Microsoft to have it as a launch title for Xbox 2.

Because Vavle does not want another game using the Source engine to come out before Half Life 2 (I am sure they have a contract).

It may be better now but I bet the PC will make something better..like always..which I love. :) PC pwns all gaming systems!! :p

Lately contracts seem to be causing some problems for Valve - I think they need to find an alternate way of doing business.

hmm..sounds like a mag speculating on release dates really...
btw, when is Xbox 2 slated to be released? just curious.

Fall/winter 2005 or early 2006.

Yep. There will always be something better...but I think the next gen. systems will probably compete better with PC's than they use to (graphics wise (HD) - not controls though). I love my PC but I would also love to play some Half Life 2 on my High Def tv in 5.1 surround or maybe I should just hook up my PC to my tv instead :hmph:

If you have a laptop, an S-video cable, and a TV with an S-video input, it's real easy. I've only played Counter-Strike, Far Cry, and UT2004 on the TV... still need to try Doom III. :p

and every xbox fanboy yells "hooray! we finally beat those pc morons!" then they run to their favorite forum, "xbox 2 is teh best. its grafix will roxorz teh Pc!!!!" 15 minutes later new pc hardware and an automatic update through steam add a whole other dimension to the ongoing argument...

Does that mean that HalfLife2 is definately going to be released for the xbox???? Not that I care since I"ll have it for pc but just a thought.

I dont think the PC and console battle will ever end.

The xbox 2 will be way better than todays hardware, its comming out in 2005-6 people. I can't decide- xbox 2 or new better than xbox 2 pc.... hmm. Anyway, they proably WON'T do half-life 2 on xbox 2. It just doesn't seem likley. But I remember someone found this info a while back. Like a few months. Oh well worth a try :)

itll be better than todays as in right now. by the time it goes through development and distribution, w/ in months some crazy new pc hardware will have surpassed it. its just the nature of the industry.

Nah, their Bloodlines date is current...

yeah but what does that mean when compared to the stipulation Valve has with the makers of Bloodlines? nothing :)

But microsoft has special deals with IBM and ATI right? They get the next gen first.

S-video = crappy picture/resolution. I am going to use DVI from my PC and be able to run it at a much higher resolution.

I shudder to think what it would be like trying to play Half-Life 2 with a console controller.
