For those who haven't seen it yet... :
http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3143782
Personally, I think it looks absolutely worthless... I see a lot of people in other sites and forums who seem to like it.. but cmon..
Swinging a remote like a sword?
Jerking the remote up to catch a virtual fish?
Aiming at the screen in FPS? That seems pretty annoying..
Anyone remember "Duck Hunt"? The only thing I remember is that it was the only game they made for the NES gun, and those of us who bought it were ripped off...(and it wasn't that fun)
How about Nintendo's old running pad, where you'd run in place to move your guy? I think they came out with just one game for that too, and both of those were supposed to be revolutionary.. Oh yes, let us not forget the original Gyroscope game with the robot controller.. Again.. just one game for that piece of junk too...
I really hate the fact you'd need to aim it at the screen for FPS, which means you can't lie there sideways with your feet up, head turned, and play a game... What about if you got 4 people in a semi circle, trying to play some James Bond 55 against one another? It seems your friends to the side couldn't play from an angle, since you need to aim it at the screen.. so how's that gonna work..? You better have a long couch so everyone can sit with a good view.. Ew, imagine a 4 person shooter where the screen is cut into 4? Now you got to aim it at a tiny little 1.5x1.5 square, where the enemy is probably 3 inches big! Seems a lot harder to do that with a laser pointer and a steady hand than a regular controller whose sensitivity is adjustable..
Least of all the problem you need to MOVE it to work.. I don't know about you guys, but I like sitting there and playing a video game, not moving and waving my arms all over the place... Reminds me of when you give a little kid or anyone who doesn't play video games the controller, and then in a racing game they think jerking the controller left and right will move the car.. haha..
All in all, maybe they will pull it off.. maybe I'm wrong.. but I'm certainly not inclined to buy it.. only to laugh...
