FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

SANTA CLARA, CA—MARCH 11, 2005— NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), a worldwide leader in graphics and digital media processors, today announced the immediate availability of its new Windows Hardware Qualification Labs (WHQL)-certified NVIDIA ForceWare Release 70 graphics driver. This new driver features:

On top of the application profiles, NVIDIA ForceWare Release 70 delivers a free performance upgrade for NVIDIA GPUs, both past and present. Performance gains over the previous NVIDIA ForceWare driver, 66.93, include:

Performance boosts in Splinter Cell of over 66% from previous driver in SLI mode¹
Performance boosts in Half Life 2 of over 11% from previous driver in SLI mode and 13% in single GPU mode² Performance boosts in Far Cry of over 13% from previous driver in SLI mode and 6% in single GPU mode³

I am very happy about this sence i have the Geforce 6600GT and Nvidia seems to be on the down side of FPS on HL2/CSS.

The New Drivers are called "Version: 71.84" and they are 17.9 MB

You can get the New Drivers here ->http://www.nvidia.com/drivers

Graphics Driver > GeForce and TNT2 > Windows XP/2000 (Unless u have 98 :p) > U.S. English

uh oh everytime I install drivers things go wrong :p, perhaps ill just leave it

I'm afraid to dl these. For me, the last few new Nviida drivers have only caused issues with certain games while the old ones didn't.

I dunno, I'll probably give in.

On topic: Way to go Nvidia.

Think maybe these drivers will make the game run on an overclocked vid card with more stability? I read somewhere that that causes game crashes someitmes, and I experienced them (which went away when I put it back to factory).

I know this is off-topic, but does anyone know of some good overclock-burning programs?

Finally.

They havn't released a new set of official drivers since before HL2 was released.

finally! they fixed those bloody white spots on de_aztec.

what kind of issues do you have? I've never had any real issues with the drivers. I installed and ran cs:s on these new drivers and everything is hunky dorey. not sure what benefit I got from it over the previous drivers but. might as well stick with the updated ones. they claim to be faster.

what white spots

the grass was all speckly, has been like this since the 6-series came out. Is fixed now. Good thing really because it was driving me nuts.

Funny how all my other DirectX games were unaffected though...

these drivers are perfect....i have no random crashs, no white spots on aztec or overheating :) i love my 6800 ultra now

/hugs buring hot 6800 ultra with stock heat sink

well.... i did notice a noticeable increase in fps, but I have one problem which only started AFTER I installed these drivers.

When I play CS: S, my screen will freeze at random. Sometimes 3 times in a minute, sometimes I go without a freeze for 5 minutes. I thought it might be overheating, but I have a 6800GT OC from BFG, stock heatsink, but I have never had any problems before this driver update.

help?

i downloaded them today (before i saw the post)...

will they make any difference to my aging geforce4?
