I just started playing Opposing Force again for some nostalgia and to get ready for the Blue Shift release this friday/saturday when I discovered that the updates recently for the Half Life 1 engine on Steam have broken the game.

Here are two bugs I encountered while playing it for 35mins, one being a showstopper bug.

The first bug was the Zombie that attacks the suit guy, in the first chapter and throws him through the window, now gets stuck and cant leave that chamber even after the glass is smashed.

The second is a showstopper, when you get to the chamber with the radioactive green stuff and the roboto that carrys crates about, it is now stuck in its moving animation (the arm) and the top part of the model becomes unstuck then loops going back to being attached constantly, meaning you can leave that room, you are completely stuck it happened again on reload,

whats going on... these bugs were never there before!

I doubt Valve will get round to fixing these bugs anytime soon. For the time being, why dont you just skip that level and launch the next map, using the console?

wtf dont tell me valve broke something again :(

edit - did you validate / reinstall the game?

yeah I did validate my Opposing Force gcf file, I will try reinstalling, but that shouldnt be a problem anymore since Steam downloads so fast.

I was amazed today to find Blue Shift fully downloaded after 15minutes despite being 250MB, hows that for service lol. They really need to make a fix all solution for the backcatalogue

Yeah... I just played Op4 yesterday afternoon after downloading Blue Shift...

No problem with the zombie-scientist-window thing...
