New piece of concept art appears.

Can't wait for this really!
The pictures tells a lot and something tells me that Valve will surprise us with some EP3 thing in E3

You know what they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. The first original Episode 3 concept art was definately more vague compared to this one. In my opinion, this new one says alot to me about the upcomming game and its plot.

It would be nice to see something from Ep3, but I am more keen to see new or upgraded tech for Source Engine making an appearance as their presentation piece. 2003 all over again

I don't think the City 17 citadel was built on Earth, I believe it was planted.

Agreed, that would explain the somewhat chaotic look of combine architecture, especially in this concept art but present also in HL2 to an extent. It doesn't look like anything humans would build, with its vast cavernous spaces and irregular geometry. It could even be called an inefficient use of space, compared to a human building which would be box shaped, with box shaped rooms and a very organised structure and not much wasted space.

You know that's not going to happen, Valve is most likely wait to show any teasers till it's near completion. :p

Every single place in the Citadel has a purpouse, their architecture is purely utilitarian. The fact they don't divide that space into typical rooms supports functionality even further. You can see equipment and machinery working everywhere, hence the spaces need to be this big to allow for throughout and quick ventilation.
Most of human buildings on the other hand are riffraff really. Size, ammount and positioning of rooms rarely corresponds to their owners' needs. On the point of waste of space or materials, look at the facades of most of high budget buildings.

well we can see that gordon and an advisor are in the middle, im guessing gordon goes to the homeworld and fights an advisor...........

Anyone in my boat over here, unable to get excited over this?

As far as i know it was planted there, or fell from the sky or something, it's crate is pretty deep apart from those big pillar things bombarding the ground to keep the ant lions away

I will cry if that happens. Gordon going to the Combine 'homeworld' is one of the most cliched approaches to EP3.

And yes, the City 17 Citadel was teleported into its spot, whatever was there before was vapourised, from there they could flood out endless enemies into the cities behind the defences, thats why Earth's armies were defeated in seven hours.

If Gordon goes to the COmbine Homeworld I shall snap up something reasonably valuable and be upset also.

If Gordon goes to the Combine homeworld the series will end. Spell check is telling me homeworld is two words.

So the 2 new pieces of art kinda tell alot of whats could happen. Not the combine homeworld, but I heard other people say about the possibility of a second resonance cascade? Wow, earth would indeed be screwed big time.

I am even more dreaming of meeting the Xen animals again. I miss them from Half-Life 1, and as I've played a few mods I even more miss them! I want those badass bullsquids back and killing the Combine! Enough of some stupid antlions and repetitive zombies.

There is nothing better than hunting striders with the rocket launcher. There is so much chaos and panic, and they are so eviiiiiil.....

It's Not A Homeworld

They call it the Combine OVERWORLD.

Probably not 'Home' for a reason.

I have a feeling this is because the combines original home probably can't support life if how they treat our planet is any evidence of how they live.

They likely destroyed their own planet harvesting resources and established a 'Overworld' to live in while they reek environmental havoc on other planets to sustain their life in the Combine Overworld.

In other words, they screwed up their first or maybe a number of worlds and learned from their mistakes. Why **** your planet over when you can **** other peoples planets up and live comfortably.

Got no problem visiting their ****in' Combine shanties or wherever the hell they come from. I consider Ep3 to be the end of the Combine "chapter" any way, so might as well kick 'em in the groin where it counts.

I'd actually like some extraterrestrial travel.

It's been too long since Gordon visited another dimension, a change of scenery would be nice, after the Borealis. Valve always likes to foreshadow where we'll end up, why else would Magnusson mention the place otherwise?

Which is how the Resistance could tune the satelite in to the Portal.
