New PSP

Check out all those useless features for a handheld gaming console like 3g and a touch screen just so they can jack the price up.

Acepilot, it's not that simple, you have to keep in mind that in Japan the internet infrastructure is extremely well developed, as is their mobile infrastructure and how they use cellphones.

In Japan, many stores allow you to simply scan in tags for items via your phone and place an order for it directly on the phone, effectively letting people go out and buy real stuff using their phone having it connected to their banking card.

I personally am not surprised at all by the 3G modem, however, has it been confirmed that it will be included in all Western versions of the PSP2 as well?

Thats ****ing brilliant. The news that places already are doing this excites me far more than the news about the psp2.

I'm not 100% on the specifics, I have to admit, but I recall seeing it in a documentary about them being able to do that.

Basically they took pics of the tags on items etc, and were then able to order the item and pay for it directly from their cell.

I assume however that there is still some form of protection to prevent other people doing it if they steal your cell, like some PIN-number you have to type in any time, but yeah it is brilliant, the less shit I have to carry around in my pockets when going out the better.

I just see no point in handhelds that can play elaborate console-style games. I'm not going to sit on the bus and play through a complicated and rich RPG. Won't the market be cornered by Droids and iPhones (kinda already is). This movement towards expensive hardware from toy-level prices doesn't seem gradual enough.

We've come a long way since GameBoy, and I don't think it's really all that necessary to have PS3 power in my hand. Besides, what battery would last over a few short minutes with that? Price range has to be $600 or so, lest they sell it at a major, major loss.

I have numerous times.

iphones and the latest droid phones cost 600-800 here and people happily pay that so I do wonder. Until there is some definitive pricing information available I'm not going to think much of it all. Portable powerful hardware is very nice and people are more than willing to pay for it.

Graphics almost as good as ps3 graphics
OLEDS
2 cameras
3G and Wi-Fi

inb4 4 hour battery life

inb4 $499.00 USD

I still really want one

Guess handheld gaming just isn't something I do anymore, save for some Tetris on my oldschool text/call phone. When I was younger I'd play them under the school desks or under my covers after bedtime. Or I'd just play them sitting down like I would any console. Nowadays I just have the ipod or notebook / novel / laptop or whatever it may be. To each their own, but I know this sort of thing would be a waste for me.

The 3DS is temping with it's Ocarina remake, which I might make use of if I end up going to Palestine, UK, Cyprus (in that order) in the next cpl years.

I'll only get this if there are specific games I want, I have my current PSP because of Crisis Core but no other games really took my fancy.

Same really, I mainly got my PSP for the MGS games that I knew were gonna come out on it.

Meh. I guess I'd think about getting one if after a few years there are a lot of GREAT games on it.

I bought a PSP 2000 and a PSP 3000 over the years and I barely play them anymore. There are no games that interest me anymore. Same with the DS I just don't like playing those games on the go anymore.

I was mildly interested in the 3ds before seeing its ridiculous price and didnt give 2 ****s about a psp2.

After this tho I'll buy one DAY ONE aslong as the price aint over £250

Yeah, I used to be way more into the 3DS, but with the recent 3DS bummers that have been revealed and with the awesomeness of this revealed, this has my vote now (though I will likely get both eventually). It will really come down to games. The 3DS WON'T have them at launch (imho). Will this? We'll see I guess. Uncharted would be ****ing ace tho. :)

Well, this will probably be out around the same time as the 3DS lite, so I guess I'll see how it fares value-wise then!

Combine Hybrid, yeah, I talked to some guy earlier who said he thought it would be 299 USD at launch.

I said "No ****ing way dude, 399 USD minimum".

Keep in mind the PSP2 specs easily rival that of for example the iPhone 4 or the Nexus S.

I just think it's unreasonable to think it'll be 299 USD, but I guess nothing's impossible, Sony said themselves they are planning on selling it at a loss, meaning they really want to try to penetrate the market with it.

I literally got mine for that Resistance game, I later got the ps2 ports of Silent Hill and left it at that
