Hey guys...

So I was enjoying a nice quiet session of mapping and arduous work on my map last night and I had to close down Steam. I got the SDK update and was miffed about having to reconfigure everything because errors popped up due to the update but no biggie... I hit reset game configurations and Hammer started up fine.

I started thinking it was sort of weird to noticet hat even though I told it to reset the configs, my hammer compile settings as well as the rest of all that stuff seemed to be pointing at the right paths (except with the little $ shortcuts dealing with my username and stuff). Anyways Hammer appears to work fine for a little while, however I noticed I get really slow performance in the 3D window that I didn't get before the update... but the worst part is this:

Ever since the SDK update Hammer crashes randomly. There's no activity triggering this, it's just random crashing. What worries me is that it's not just Hammer crashing, when it crashes it gives me a "memory could not be read" error which closes down Hammer, but it also completely ****s up Steam at the same time. I also makes my winamp hang on whatever song it's playing and I have to close down all the programs and restart Steam if I want to continue...

So yeah... I'm pretty pissed off, If this update was supposed to somehow make my life easier I'm not seeing how, it's corrupted a bunch of my map files, crashes my programs randomly (even those not handled by Steam) and in general it's just a pain in the ass.

I know it's not my PC acting up because:

1) It started immediately after the update.
2) It doesn't happen to my PC if I don't have Steam running
3) I keep my PC clean of spyware/viruses at all times.

Anyone experience anything similar or know how to fix this? It's putting my mapping to a stop unless I find a solution... I refuse to deal with this BS due to a bad patch.

Just copy all your map-files and stuff and delete the SDK cache, delete all the files that is left in the SDK folder after. Download the SDK again, put in your files in the new structure. This is what i did even with no errors i wanted to be sure that the folder was clean.
