Ordering it all in 1 week.

I am now...officially ready for HL2 & Doom 3.

But also, let me know if theres anything I should add or change.

Ehm... how about wrapping some bacon about those fans...? It smells great!

who the **** needs 574gigs of hard disk space for hl2 or doom3.

you know what i really want to know is, what type of system u currently have thats used and costs 1800$, thats 200 bucks shy of my built system which will run hl2 flawlessly

seruiysky what used computer u have right now that costs 1800$

dude just look at my signature and buy whats there. ull be set for hl2 and doom3 and save about 2000$

gateway's accessories site has x800xt PE's in stock for ~$430 right now.

and as far as changing stuff...how about change the prices on half of that...especially the x800...if you pay the full $500 you're nuts. also, you don't need a lian li case for any reason. you can save at least $100 there. you can save another $200 by removing the completely unnecessary hitachi hd's and adding another raptor...why not just get 2x raptors and raid those?

then save more $$ and get a cheap lite-on cdrw...and get a separate non-sonyisexpensive dvd writer. also stop wasting your $$ on that platinum audigy. another $100 saved. just realized you weren't getting a PSU with your overpriced lian li...another $80 saved.

i'll assume you need the 7-in-1 card reader for something...the cordless kb/m...and the $360 speakers...

so far i've saved you over $700 by eliminating unnecessary crap from your system. i don't see the need for so much HD space unless you're earning a living doing video editing...not just cs movies or something.

i also don't see the justification for buying a $500 cpu at all. the $700 LCD is a judgement call i guess...

like hyenolie, i built a system for less than the one you're SELLING (that you CLAIM is worth $1800...though i can't imagine what used system would be) that will run HL2 and doom3 perfectly fine. it seems you just have a ton of $$ to burn...that's the only explanation for you buying the platinum version of a sound card, a $700 monitor, and $360 speakers...just buy a real stereo and hook that up to your comp...

yes...all you can hope for is that he actually worked for it...

I'd change the speakers to the Logitech z-680 and get only one 250 gig hd, AND buy a dell 2001fp instead of the sony monitor.

i don't understand the need for either 250-gig...video editing or stupid overkill?

why not just get two raptors and raid them if you're going for the uber speed?

Quit lying, they haven't even shipped them out yet from ATi.

As far as the motherboard and graphics go, they are what you need. The cpu i'd go for a 3800+ instead - i know it costs more but you can save money elsewhere...

Like everyone else says, ditch the 250gb drive, you wont notice its gone. Infact you could just ditch the raptor and run the 250s in RAID... Raptors are very noisy and hot anyway.

19" LCD Monitor? Are you MAD? Besides costing too much, for games they are the worst display you can waste your money on. Particularly the larger displays, the ghosting in first-person-shooters makes the game unplayable. I know the lower response times are solving this problem slowly, so in a few years it will bea viable opion - but now it definately is not solved. Just get a nice 19" flat-screen CRT - Believe me, they are the best for games. You'll save yourself loads of money too.

nVidia are releasing nVidia Soundstorm (the ultimate audio processor from nForce2) onto an add-in-card that you will be able to plug into your nForce3 motherboard and enjoy true soundstorm 5.1 with virtually NO extra CPU cycles taken up - meaning better framerates in all games (and perfect sound).

Wireless perhiperals (KB + Mouse) are a novelty and you should really ask yourself if it's worthwhile, wireless mice are usually heavy and nasty due to the recharger circuits and batteries, would only decrease your games performance.

Speakers: As MaxiKana says - Logitech Z680s are the best. If you want the ultimate, you need these babies.

Why do you need 2 DVDRW's - just get one?

Do you need that Lian-Li case? It looks nice but if its performance you want, you don't need it. There are much cheaper and just-as-nice-looking cases available, most are pre-modded with lots of nice chassis fans. Cables etc you should recieve with the motherboard + case so I dont know why you have them listed.

Thats my thoughts anyway.

Actually the sony 2001fp, is a 21 inch LCD with 15ms response time, all the people who use it claims it has no ghosting at all. Plus it owns.

Seriously? How come ive not heard about this?! :O 21" is huge, bet it costs a BOMB though - besides, CRTs get the job done too, depending how your desk is, its better to have CRT than LCD... my desk was built for a CRT so I wouldn't notice the difference if it was flatpanel or not :D (see here)

I'm glad the ghosting issue is finally being solved though, may look into a TFT when I next upgrade.

Go to www.ocforums.com and go to the screen section, or go to www.dell.com and try to find it through their confusing site design. Atleast in Finland it's 1.4k€ :p

And this guy seems to have cash so... He should buy three, use two and send one to me.

sure you can be skeptical...but i think you'd have grounds to force gateway to give you that price even if it's wrong...they might at least give you some kind of deal if they made a mistake...

like one guy said though...CDW is one of gateway's major suppliers...and CDW doesn't have any xt's...so think what you want but don't call me a liar, jackass :\

=================

as far as monitors go...as long as you get one that gets the job done with satisfying image quality, you've done all you can. spending an extra $1000 on one isn't going to make you a better gamer...or make your penis larger...

i have a viewsonic p95f+b and i couldn't be happier with it...especially since i paid less than $230 for it about 8 months ago. i wouldn't spend so much on a display...ever...unless it was a display that would display right on my retina.

You just linked to nothing, good job to you sir. Still liar.

Well, heres the breakdown

I have about 400GB's of HD space now, completely full. About 100 Divx movies and enough porn 2 make a porno star blush. And I happen to do video editing also, lol.

The lcd has a 12ms response time and i HEAR no ghosting, thats still a gametime choice tho, Ill figure it out when I buy the system if I should keep it.
By the way, its a Philips, not a Sony, i made a mistake.

I may actually raid 2 raptors, but I think that might be overkill, its only gonna be a bootdrive anyway.

That sony burner is a Dual Layer burner also. I do alot of backups so I need that.

I also do alot of music work, guitars and such with the neighbors and keyboarding myself. So I need that external sound card so theres no interference.

The Lian Li case is just ****in sweet. Sorry.

As far as what im selling now for $1800, its a 2800XP, All in wonder 9800 Pro, SBLive, 2 DVD burners, 2x 160GB raptors and an 80GB IDE with a 40GB backup. Monitor, speakers all that crap. K&M, big ass thermaltake case with 11 fans and liquid cooling. Im sure I can sell it for $1800.

And YES this is ALLL my damn money, I work...ALOT. My parents are dead so I couldnt get any money off em if I wanted too.

Reason numero 1 for a DVDRW - Burn dvd's

Reason numero 2 for a DVDRW - Make money

Anyway...i would'nt buy what your buying in a million sundays even if i could afford it...Your buying random shit that you'll probably never use more than once to check it out.

And your other pc ...well i dont think you'll get $1800 for it...you could probably get close to building the same pc for that ammount ($1800) brand new...dont forget, second hand means AT LEAST half the price unless its in top and i mean TOP nick...boxes for everything...manuals for everything the lot...no one needs 400gb of space except you when you have a burners...1 film, 1 cd.

Dont waste your money...unless thats what you want to do...you can mod a x800 pro to a XT with some metal paint or something conductive. Theres £200 saved already....a 21" flat screen monitor...better quality for games whether that LCD has ghosting or not...it will have some. Theres god knows how much saved.

Yea, I would probably get $1500 for it.

As far as used meaning you get half, I ALWAYS get more then half the price. Find better people to sell to if your only getting half the current retail price for your parts.

You have to remember also, if someone is buying a whole computer, they probably cant build it themself. So im not really competing with the local hardware shop, im competing with Dell or Alienware, which for $1500, I would kill.

And 400GB's of HD space isnt that much. Easy to fill if you have a cable modem. I know several people who are already in the Terabyte range and have been so for almost 2 years now. I have tons anime and TV shows, entire series', every season in most cases. I have alot of stuff, but its fun convering your TV shows off your DVR into divx. Keeping em, burning em to DVDs' for your friends. I dont know how anyone could have less then 200GB's of space.

That keyboard and mouse is no good for gaming, get the mx700 combo if you want wireless.

for such an amazing pc you seem to be ordering a small monitor.

go with a 20" . dell2001fp to be exact. it costs same

and the price seems steep what brand are you using ? are you using newegg.com?

Read the thread he linked to, and don't be such a jerk about it. Gateway took it down because they got atleast 2 batches backordered. A bunch of people reported ordering it and getting confirmation e-mails, even that the serial numbers matched

ill just say tht my comp is just as good, but i paid half as much, even though i only have 240 gigs hard drive, 21'in flat screen, DVD-CD burner 50 buck cough cough. man, u got ripped off.

On the monitor im not using newegg, but the philips monitor has the lowest ms of any fp's out. 12ms.

What are you talking about? This may have been the case when LCDs were first introduced, but not now. All of the LCDs I've used have had no noticeable difference in performance than a CRT. Besides CRTs take up so much space, and they hurt my eyes if I look at them too long.

Since your spending so much already why not use the full potential of the Audigy ZS and get a 7.1 system, the Creative Gigaworks look really nice. I have the 6.1 megaworks and they are nice so these should be even better. Who wouldn't you want a 700 watt speaker system anyway. Just seems like your buying a nice sound card when you wont even be using all of its capabilities, just seems like your wasting money to me.

Well, 2 things...

The computer is just gonna sit in my room, lol. I happen to think 7 speakers all sitting on a desk looks umm...yea. I happen to be real close to thinking 5 is overdoing it, but i do love sound quality.

Also, I read some reviews and will probably get the Logitech-680s' (thanks to Maxi). Plus their cheaper.
