  • Added Spanish map descriptions
  • Added new option to auto-save a scoreboard screenshot at the end of a map to the Multiplayer->Advanced dialog
  • Added more particle optimizations for mid range and low end hardware
  • Updated CP_GravelPit to fix all known exploits and changed the scoring method to score per capture rather than per round

Boring map. Too big, and the center area now feels completely pointless.

Also, it has the same bug I get on CP_Well: namely, the little computer-beeping loop sound that I guess plays around the rocket rooms - final points, flags, whatever - plays, continuously, at full volume, for the ENTIRE DAMN GAME. Anyone else get that?

Looks nice, plays pretty nice.

Though maybe I'm just glad that theres choice for a CTF map now.

I think trains were removed because they got bugs when the guy with the flag got run over.

Just a hunch.

Damn, the hl2.net official screenshots suck.

Look at that anti-aliasing!

And the gamma seems to be set way up.

I've had a quick look around this map but I haven't been able to play it yet but I like how it is more open than 2fort.

I get that on 2fort sometimes, it drives me insane. For some reason it only happened when I had all graphic detail settings set to low as it hasn't happened again since I set them back to high.

I think they need to decorate more the map. Putting crate, box or drum on the open area, as well as placing trains back in.

it isnt that the screenshots look bad, i think its the map that doesnt look nice.

its wide, open and booring for ctf... sad indeed..

I have to say that I was excited for this, but now that it's here, I think second guessing Valve was silly. CP maps just make for a way better game somehow: they are just plain perfect the way the field of battle keeps things moving. 2fort is okay, but I really like the CP gamestyle much better in the end. It's an innovation, not a step back.

Just finished having a go at it played better than I thought.

The spawning in the second capture point area means you have chances to kill and grab the intelligence without people re-spawning right next to you, and even allows for an engineer to sneak into the enemy base and setup shop.

The extra set of stairs where the well used to be also makes using the top floor more viable, where previously you had to go round in circles. Infact I wish they would add the stairs into the CP version.

I thought it work well for the ctf gameplay but it doesn't.
The map is too complex for this such of gameplay.
Most of the action is spread out or held inside the middle building which makes it quite a bore imo.I hope that somebody remakes the original Well map.Maybe make some additional changes to it, to discourage the Sniper whoring.

The problem with this map is that there are too many large, open areas which thins out the action and removes any focus or intense fights from the game that we all enjoy so much.

One of the worst map updates ive seen from valve.
- The same sound bug from the original version.
- Capture decals still shown.
- Gameplay doesn?t work.
- The main feature of the map doesn?t work (trains)
- Time it took them to make/release this small update.

Doesn’t matter if its intended our not, the map is build around it and its a failure if it didn’t make it.

Also why was it intended?

I guess it's because people would get annoyed if they have the intel and they're running back to their base whilst being chased by an entire team, only to find that both trains are now running down the tracks and they have nowhere to escape.

The building in the middle should've been removed, otherwise it's a nice map. Oh and to anyone that gets weird sound loops/bugs, type snd_restart in console, clears it right up. :D

Yep, CTF_Well is a bit lame. The flag is way too deep inside the enemy base, it's a bit silly.

I think it's quite balanced, really. When I played it for the first time, I went Spy and really had a blast inside the enemy base. The inclusion of the ramp in the water room is a life saver and can really mess up a good defense.

Although the teams may have been a little stacked considering most of the high scorers were hl2net members.

Woah... servers the other day weren't playing anything but Well. Well, it was kind've ok. Different, anywho.

I'm liking Well_ctf. In games I've been playing The central area has been a kind of holding area that you control in order to stop enemies advancing whilst also giving your team mates a chance to amass before launching your own assaults. With 3-4 people you can launch a good attack. It's also good getting just inside the enemy base & makig your way to the upper levels. From there you can cause havok in the base whilst your tema meets advance. I played as a demoman & took out to unsuspecting snipers before moving into the higher area & raining a s**t storm down on enemeies, most of whom had probably just spawned only to exit the resupply room & walk into a cluster of sticky bombs. Ha ha! Loads of fun. I'm loving Well_ctf & TF2 in general. Only thing I'm playing at the moment. I was all into Crysis for a while but that's been ousted in favour of TF2 now I've completed it.
