New Team Fortress 2 update is now released. This update adds "Very High" texture resolution option to Team Fortress 2 so you can see TF2 in it's full glory.
  • Added "Very High" texture resolution option
  • Added "Minimal HUD" option to Options->Multiplayer
  • Fixed headshots not always registering for crouched players
  • Fixed player interpolation bug that caused jittery player animation in some cases
  • Fixed rare crash when players exited water
  • Fixed server crash related to Spy sappers
  • Fixed overlapping UI elements in Options->Video->Advanced
  • Fixed non-English language text overlapping in a few places
  • Fixed players being able to use spectator points in dustbowl that were not in play
  • Removed "listdeaths" command that could be abused by clients
Restart Steam to get the new update.

Good list. Very High texture quality..

They need to fix stats gain when adding and fighting AI-less bots on your own server

I think they forgot to list a change.. they added a class counter. At the class select screen you can see how many of each class is on your team now.

noticed that was new. Nice feature, helps seeing what and what's not available.

Hopefully they'll balance the demo dude in the next update.

I haven't got this update for some reason. I had TF2 for the first day then my computer broke and I just got it back today with a new motherboard. So I had to get every update, but the last one says it was sept. 28. And when I play TF2 it is very laggy even with every setting on low. I don't know what the problem is, I'm going to cry if I can't play TF2.

Great update, game looks EVEN better now. Plus some good additions to the options.

post some screenshot with/out high textures ??? thx

Very High Textures? Perfect timing as I'm putting in an 8800GTS tonight. \o/

GFX do look a little better. Mostly when upclose, alot less bluring.

Minimal hud looks a bit pants though :|

You cant really tell the difference tbh.... although you can tell by looking at some of the engi structures especially the turrets.

With textures on High, switch to Very High and keep your eye on a floor or wall texture when hitting 'apply'. Personally I noticed a very big difference indeed, but it hits my framerate noticeably so I'm going to go without.

Excellent changes! I'm hoping they just nerf the turrets. If there is too many pyro's too it breaks the game balance as well.

whats so overpowering about the demo?

It's not a demo. It's pretty much a 2 week jump start to play TF2 and also allows Valve to fix any major/minor bugs before the masses really start playing on October 10.

Lol he was talking about the demolition man

So the PC version is getting all these updates... what about the 360 version? I'm sure its been done for a bit and it already in production. Unless they release some massive updates when it's released.

feels like they've already nerfed the demo in this update? feels like i hardly do any dmg at all :S

He's already been nerfed since a previous update. Unless they nerfed him even further, which would be an incredibly stupid move.

feels like he's even less good after todays patch :( bah.. got 2 direct hits on a soldier and he didnt die.. its not that easy hitting with nades, and now they barely even do any dmg :/

thats it, im going pyro! :p

whats so overpowering about the demo?

It's not that he's overpowered, it's that he's underpowered atm.
Weak grenades, fairly slow fire rate, and has very few grenades.

I'd like to know as well...

The demoman is supposed to be defensive. Try setting some sticky traps. I've found that work very well.

Sticky traps and a very short range high precision weapon are effectively all he has now. The gren launcher clearly needed to be tweaked again.

No it doesn't. The demo is for clearing choke points, destroying turrets and for laying traps. And he is extremely good at that. In fact his sticky bomb are incredibly powerful. I have stickied them numerous times on the ceiling or entrances and killed people who weren't really near them. They have a massive area of effect and do a shitload of damage. Maybe they need a handgun for personal defense but nothing more.

Noone said the sticky traps weren't good...?

No, they are saying the demoman sucks now, which is completely in the hands of the user. The demoman is still plenty good, and after the update, I've been playing him more more, actually.

His primary grenades are now nigh-useless the moment they touch any surface, since they take way too long to detonate and have minimal amounts of damage and splash range once they do. I thought indirect fire was one of the main purposes of playing the demoman?
