I felt I should share with you Google Mail's latest feature, as it's possibly the most noticeable feature to come to it in almost a year. Gmail (or Google Mail) is now equipped with 31 selectable themes, similar to Google's iGoogle page. There's not much to say about it other than it's awesome. Personally, other than the Classic, I find the Shiny and Tree view to be my favourites. It also appears that some themes, like iGoogle, change according to time of day.

Speaking to some people, I don't believe that everyone has this feature available yet. Here's some screenies for you all:

It does not exist!

Seriously, there is no themes option for me.

It's possible that it's a closed beta. Google has done that in the past.

Nice, I'm using silver lining. If you got the new themes there should have been an announcement about the new themes across the top of the page, and you can just go to settings and then click on the themes tab/link.

(And Druckles, you might want to blur those screenshots more, because if someone wanted to they could take 30 seconds in photoshop and make most of the words readable.)

Tbh, I don't particularly care. There's nothing too interesting in my inbox at the moment.

I kinda do want the themes but I can't be arsed to get another email, this msn built in one is too convenient.

MSN as in you can IM people from your email page? Gmail has the same thing but with AIM, and there is probably a way to get other clients to work with Google Talk.

no the messenger has a button you click to bring up the email webpage. And the messenger notifies you of any messages the instant they arrive. And I'm on it all the time so I don't see sufficient reason to go out of my way and go specifically to a website to check emails. Plus I wouldn't get instant notification of message arrivals. My school email which I have to use a browser for, I check emails once a day but I have to go out of my way to do it, unfortunately a necessity..

Google Notifications.

Also, with Gmail you could forward your school emails to your gmail account and add a coloured tag to them as they come in.

You can also use your gmail account on Windows Live Messenger.

bah, isn't there a way to keep everything the same and just change the email to pop up a gmail account.

You can't be afraid of change. Take the step forward. You'll find yourself liking it.

turns out I did make a gmail account a while back for my dad who ended up not using it. How do I make the messenger pop up the web gmail instead of starting outlook?

Use Gmail Notifier.

I assume you can set up a .net passport for your gmail account to use it on Windows Live Messenger?

What's up with blurring out your photos? You can read what it says if you really try :D

Apparently they've updated the msn mail with a similar interface too.

My Gmail is covered in frickin' ninjas. It is therefore impossible for any other email service to better it without blatant plagiarism.

I saw that. My friend (can't remember who) was very disappointed when she realised how awesome Gmail's themes are in comparison. I believe Live's themes were rolled out a week before.
