New TV help

I need a new tv and im thinking about an LCD, but im curious if LCD is really worth the money, around $1000 for only a 26" screen is alot. My other option is 30"-36" flat tube TV. I do plan on hooking my pc up the new tv, and i was wondering if i can get the same picture quality with the LCS as i do with my current CRT monitor, i mean for $1000 it should be much better right? andways and input would be helpful.

CRTs are too heavy, they take up too much space, and the colors aren't as nice as a good lcd. But what you want to look for in an lcd tv is if it can produce good blacks. That's why i'm waiting for oleds.
