if all of u open hl2 there will be a new setting for hdr so this could mean future hdr

I believe every texture that wants to be affected by HDR has to be created with it in mind.

It's like that in all source games (including 3rd party mods), and please use other threads that have already been created and not have to post with the first observation you have.

Maybe someone will release a few HDR'rd maps from HL2.

Yes maybe they will....when they get the information from it when its released...

apparently from what i heard on a reliable game website (which i cant remember lol) HL2 is gettin the HDR treatment but not at the big scale Lost coast is.. since some places look better without HDR

I believe Valve said it would be a 500mb download for a HDR'd HL2.

I believe Valve said it would be a 4GIG!!!! download for a HDR'd HL2.

500mb? That's nothing. And even if it's 4GB it'll take me like...an hour to download it.

Me too...it's just a night with computer on, I can sleep with some noise in the background.

That's great, but having to run two extra artpasses for every texture and redesigning the skyboxes in every level for free isn't going to happen. Valve said they might introduce a limited form of HDR, but it won't be getting a full rework.

Yeah I know that's why they won't do it, but everyone cites the download time as the reason. And that's a very poor reason.

Not all of us have broadband. Remember that.
I doubt it would be a mandatory update....
Also, the bloom mod is only like 1 or 2 megs. I bet valve could easily implement HDR bloom into HL2.
