Well, I read through the update list and they really didn't do anything to the games but after the update today they don't seem to work anymore. I can only play Half-Life 2 for about 5 min. until I get an error saying something about a vertex buffer.

The games played fine all the time until this new update. I was playing and had HL2 gave me that error and I figured it was just a one time thing, but I went back in game and sure enough a few minutes later and I get the same error. I went to go play CS:S and I am able to play until a map change and then I get the same error as in HL2. I have also had CS:S just crash to the desktop once as well.

I think that it would be the update because they all played fine up until I restarted steam and it updated. I haven't changed anything on my computer, settings or drivers or anything like that so that shouldn't be the problem.

I have looked up this error and the closest thing that I could find said the problem would most likely be a bad game cache so I went through and did the little verify thing through steam and they all turned out good so....I am kind of stumped.

Oh well, I'll give it a day or so to see if it goes away, just though I would post here to see if anybody else has any ideas as to what I would do to fix it. I will also see if I cant get the exact name of the error as well.

they only updated steam. have you tried installing a new video driver?

I know that they didn't really do anything to the games that is why I am sort of confused as to why this would happen.

I have been using these drivers for my video card for about a month and everything has been working fine until today when everything decided it wanted to get crash happy. They are the latest drivers that I can find for my card (GeForce Go 7400, yeah; its a laptop).

Like I said, I plan on giving it a few more tries to see if it happens some more so I can pinpoint when it does it the most and if I can really figure out what that error is.
