New UT2007 SS!

Wow... That looks... VERY NICE!

I wanna play! :(

I honestly just cant beleive the detail in that engine, at first I thought they had jumped the gun too far in the next gen engines by releasing a half gen engine(UnrealTech 2.0 and 2.X). Now that i see this coming next year, they planned this out very well, they captured sales before the last gen, and now it looks like they are the only competition after it too.

Gratz Epic, you know what your doing. This game loooks stunningly realistic, but lets see some videos now, of in game action. See how smooth this actually runs, considering the stuttering increases with each generation ussually. Lets see if you can smooth out the physics, fine detail the mapping, and remove that slimy plasticy detail on clothes etc of this generation.

Looking forward to buying this on the ps3, my PC just isnt good enough right now, and I dont feel like updated it with a few grand when i can buy the ps3 for around 400. haha.

Here's to hoping I have a good enough PC to run it when it comes out.

Which I won't.

****.

What makes you think it would come to PS3?

Anyway here you can download a movie of unreal 7:

Community map making is going to be unbelievably hard with all of this advanced ass shit.

Screens look very nice though.

No way. UT2004 is limiting to map for. I think loads of mappers want to be able to do more.

The first time it got shown was on the PS3 wasn't it?
It was shown on PS3, but it wasn't first time we saw screenies of UT2k7. Of course it'll be for PS3 and PC... and 360 as well... I think...

Yes, at the E3 sony did show footage of ut2007 it was a realtime render and it looked amazing:D

Agreed. And assuming Epic knows how to make a good editor, they'll probably have simplified geometry creation tools, to quickly build bevelled edges, rafters, and all those other detail objects without having to hand-build them piece by piece.

It looks good but compared to previous unreal titles it looks really dark.

Its likely that its just that one map.

I am a fan of the dark style unreal games, unreal 1 and unreal tournament were very dark games, and i thought that they rocked!

UT2003/2004 in my opinion took away from some of the dark atmosphere, and made it more tournament and quake like...

A return to the dark skins and atmosphere would be nice!

Sounds like a good idea, but considering that the XBOX 360 hardware is already showing its limits/starting to show signs of age, I wouldn't get your hopes up.

.. how so ?

Well, not extreme signs of age, but it's kinda JUST STARTING to show it.

Like Quake 4. I know it's a shitty port, but still. They kept saying how easy it would be to port games over the 360, and with a game that is in no way graphically or engine wise, marvelous, it stutters sometimes.

Don't get me wrong, it's an incredibly cool console, but it's just starting to show its limits, if not age.

Dunno if it's any good, but it sure is cool :E

All games released on the 360 right now only use 1 of its cores. Im no hardcore console fan. As a matter of fact im just starting to get back into consoles. (Last console i owned was Playstayion) Now i got a 360 and getting a ps3. So dont think im defending it like uber crazy. Just get your facts straght.

360 isnt even showing its tip yet.

i didn't think that horrible developers was a limit on the actual console, i always assumed it was the developers fault, but i guess this is like how people blame microsoft/windows for all the problems they cause, and the problems caused by the huge amount of hardware that needs to be supported . . .

so, aside from the bad q4 port, anything else where it is showing age/limits ?

raziel-jcd, old or not some people may not have seen them.

Sweet mother of all that is good and sechs....... nice pics

:E

Jesus tapdancing christ that game looks unbelievable. Hope its really scalable so my 9800pro can play it :/

The vast majority of the detail work there is static meshes (i.e. models). You build a shell of your level first (basic geometry) and then populate it with static meshes to build up the detail. Much the same way that HL2 does it, only more so.

I disagree the 360 is not showing it's age.
Take the best Pc in the world, give it a shitty port from the Xbox.
It will run like shit.
It goes both ways. The Q4 port was just that shitty, they shoved it up their asses and then took a shit and put that in a box and shipped it.

Lets just hope Epic builds a game rather than a tech-demo this time round.

This looks pretty awsome. But theres one thing still missing! And that is motion blur. Anyone got any info on motion blur? Will the U3 engine support it?

Awsome :D

lucky me I have 2 7800GTX

lol....................My pc going to own it.

Erm it's not in any way starting to show it's age... A shitty port is NOT the fault of the console...

For example, do you guys remember when they first started showing Halo? Shitty framerates and people then were doubting the power of the Xbox saying the exact same sh*t... Now look where we are with Halo2, Conkers, Forza, etc etc

Oh, and so far all the games are running on 1 of the 3 cores... That means they are only using _maybe_ 1/3 of the console! We have lots and lots of room to grow... You must remember that most programmers haven't ever utilized multi-core programming, and now they need a crash course to get games out the door... Programmers will need some time to learn the in's and out of the console to get the absolute bleeding edge best performance.... We aren't even there yet. Same thing will happen with the PS3..

I love those screenshots, but there's some things that should/will be replaced most likely

Erm those fire's aren't lighting up the environment and just scream "sprites!"

http://www.tothegame.com/sshotfeat.asp?screen=5880&pic=5
When did Epic use MS Paint to create blood? Also the dirt getting kicked up by the scorpion isn't getten lit by the blue and looks out of place.

http://www.tothegame.com/sshotfeat.asp?screen=5880&pic=6
Some of the explosion sprites are clipping through the ground and some particle's not getting lit by environment (you would think that a fire that huge would cause a nice bright orange on every object near it)

http://www.tothegame.com/sshotfeat.asp?screen=5880&pic=7
Not a crit but a question... What's that in the upper left? Is that the artillery they talked about?

http://www.tothegame.com/sshotfeat.asp?screen=5880&pic=2
Still haven't got some great trees in the game (leaf wise)

-------

Please note that I am NOT knocking Epic... I am critiqiuing their work so _if_ they read this they can improve upon it... But I'm sure they already know about most of what I said, because theya re still in the alpha phase as I thought I read and so a lot of that will be fixed before they release next year.
