Im probly goign to get a new videocard on feb 5
I will have 700$
what kind of video card should I buy?

I have a 9600XT 128mb right now... Should i wait for newer videocards to come out like a 512 mb vid card or something or upgrade now?

Well first of all, is there anything else you might be buying like a processor or RAM for your computer, list your specs just to be sure before you blow all that money on a video card.

keep ur gfx card, buy another stick of 512 ram, also update ur cpu 3200+. or get a new mother board i recommend the...

MSI K8T Neo2-FIR
HyperTransport / DDR400
VIA K8T800Pro Chipset
&
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
Socket 939 / 2000MHz
512KB L2 Cache

well u dint say that did u :)...ok keep the CPU, buy another stick of 512Mb ram, Also buy urself a nice sound card, eg Audigy Sound Blaster Platinum. Save the rest of the cash for a really good GFX card later to be released in the year.

Okay
I have enough money for a 512 stick of ram right now

how do i find out what sound card i have adn you can tell me if i shoiudl upgrade

ok find your "My Computer icon" right click it, goto properties, click hardware, click device manager and click sound video & game controllers it will tell u in there.

if u looked on the site i provided, it says approx right in the middle..Buy for $249.99

yeah ill probly get that too lol
now that i quit weed i have lots of money to spend
=)

u must av bin a lil addicted, cos if u av saved $700 thats saying sumert.

What are your current motherboard and video card? You may not need a new sound card, as a lot of the time a new sound card is redundant and unnecessary.

im just saveign money from my job
this is what im gettign
512 ram next week
i only have a 30 gig hd right now so im gettign a 70 gig the week after i get 512 ram
then i will save for vid card adn stuff

total cost = $883

This is what it will be

ATI Radeon x850XT PE
1 Gig ram
Athalon 2600+
100 Gig HD

Bloody hell, im glad i live in UK.

74GB Western Digital Raptor
10,000RPM / 8MB Buffer

Corsair XMS3200 PRO 512MB
DDR400 / CAS : 2-3-3-6*
Black XMS Pro Series

TOTAL =£205.87

A 70gb hard drive and 512mb of RAM costs $883? Surely there's something wrong. The only thing I could think of that would make those cost so much is if the 70gb hard drive is a Raptor and you're buying some sort of amazing $600 RAM. I know we're talking Canadian dollars here, but it shouldn't cost that much.

Oh sorry about that :p

What is this "70gig hd" you speak of?

You know, you might want to spend the extra 6 dollars to get this instead. It will probably be worth it.

Waste of money on the video card, it will be bottlenecked from the 2600+, trust me, my X800 Pro bottlenecked my 2600+ that was oc'd to 2.0ghz...If you want to upgrade do the whole system.

Well ill stick with my

ATI Radeon 9600XT
1 Gig ram
Athalon 2600+
100 Gig HD

for now and we will see how it runs in the future

yeah, cpu is very important, my 6800gt @ ultra+ speeds is bottlenecked by my 3200+ in source engine games, I think it is because of the extra cpu work with the physics involved.

How about you just build a new computer? Its a lot easier if you are going to have all that kinds of moneh.

im not going to have lots of money it will take me 4 months to save up for all my stuff i want lol

your cpu should do okay.. dont worry about it since you just got it.. maybe try and o/c it to get more juice
