i like it...but a few points of critisism...decrease the flare.. and change the font to some pixel font....go for a clean style.... just my opinion of course

Of course some people might not know this but the flare you talk about is not a one filter do it all.(as your post tone may suggest)

Don't make it look cheap, because I put some time into it...

btw, I agree with him, make it clean, a nice ''normal'' font. You know.
Also, the layout on the site looks alot better, before it looked like a girls website.

simplygiving you my opnion, and trying to help you improve...
If it's not a filter, then it's might a 3d render..none the less the flare is very sharp and should be reduces, and the font doesn't really fit in at all

i just wanted to clarify for some people that this is not your normal lens flare, in fact it isn't a lens flare at all.

Some wallpapers work and some just don't



BTW did any of you notice the HL2 Logo I put in there? The first time you saw it?

btw.. question and suggestion. are you treying to do this just as a hobby or do you want to work at a game-dev company or so

If so try to move your art direction towars "digital painting" and not just photoshop.

if not.. then just completly forget what I just said and have fun in your hobby

This is a lie, all it is is an overlay! I'm guessing 75% of the time put into this was finding the source picture...

I'm going to try and make a career path out of working with this.

Something like a graphic designer/ artist/ photo retoucher/ etc.

Please try and get the same effect only using overlay layer blendings.

My original has 13 layers and it's 5 MB is size.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, I did use overlay blending modes, it's just that that doesn't do it all.

Your making it seem like I copied>pasted HL2 logo colored it blue and added an overlay layer to it.

i liek all your wallpapers bwmaster... they are very emotional... lol jk but they have inspired me to learn how to use photoshop 7 and i have been taking video tutorials on it from www.3dbuzz.com and i am going to start making some wallpapers and stuff soon... i tried learning how to model before i came to photoshop and modelling is just too complex plus i would only want to learn it if i was going to do it for my job or something and im not going to so i decided photoshop was a little more easier to learn plus it appeals to everyone because of the cool art things you can make... ummm that was all one sentence ive been rambling too much lol ill stop talking now

hl2 rust isnt all that good nice rust on the logo but if it took u so many layers for that thats sucky.

I use alot of layers to, so its better to change something if I make a mistake or so. but once it is finished I shrink it down to 4 layers maximum. 1 Background, 2 Background objects, 3 Character or the focus of attention, 4 details, like small dents in metal etc
