New Weapon Info (HL2.net update time)

I don't particulary care whether its there's old or new weapons. They all look just as pretty. Especially the magnum :D ooooohhh so pretty now. And the usp is awesome, same with the HK7. Then there's the manipulator and the I-Rifle which will have at least 3 different types of ammo (that we know for sure from screenshots and videos).

I know that the beta is incomplete, but still u get to see a lot of weapons (most of them) from HL1 and its kinda boring...

That doesn't mean that there are any fewer new weapons. The derivatives of the ones from HL were probably implemented first, as the developers were most familiar with them.

That new pistol in the picture is not the USP match, and quite frankly looks NOTHING like it...just wait and see.

See all the comparison pics? What's that guy in the white shirt in the background of the left pic holding? I can't make out what weapon that is..

I hav see more weapons in the beta images(not a lot just few)

but I will not post and explain about them
(if I am allowed I will post it has a spoiler)

I can't allow you to, no.

[*]The gun on the hovercraft is meant to be some kind of .50 cal thing from what I can see (looks like a slimmed-down Browning M2) -- those are supposed to be bullets coming out of it (tracer), not energy beams. It is missing the ammobox though (unless that paintball gun gravity-style feed is it).[/list]
I'm pretty sure it fires some energy type projectile because in the video it has ammo but it regenrates it. As far as I know you can't regenerate real ammo.

I noticed the energy projectiles too. It's king of like that "bee gun" that the alien drones had in HL. I wonder if you can take the gun off the hovercraft like the guass gun from the buggy?

What, do the new vids show Gordon removing the Guass gun from the buggy? I've gotta find time to download the whole thing...

I'm pretty sure I saw that in a very old pic that used to be on this site. Maybe not. I'm probably thinking of something else.

I don't think so. They look very different.

Edit: They don't fire the same also. Check out the new strider videos for proof.
I Agree with you those arent the same guns!

It doesn't show this.....but I think it's safe to assume it will feature as a holdable weapon. Not confirmed though.

And isn't this the same gun as the one that's used against the striders? The bullets (or whatever) look the same. Sorry if this has been covered....but I can't be bothered to read the whole thread.

Gordon doesnt removing the Guass gun from the buggy, the Guass gun will be a weapon like all the other ones...

Speaking of weapons, isn't it interesting that the Gauss Gun is in the game? It was developed at Black Mesa (it was in prototype stage in HL), but Black Mesa was later destroyed completely. Somehow, the weapon got out. Maybe with Gordon (when his weapons were taken). Who knows.

It looks like we can add crossbow, Watercraft-Energy-Machinegun, and the stun baton.

I just need to convince people about these weapons...that the weapon on the left is new. Just watch the new strider videos people! :)

imo whatever that gun is must be a placeholder cos it looks crap at the mo

Yeah, afaik there existed only 1 gauss gun prototype (who knows) and that one Gordon 'borrowed' a bit... but the G-Man took Gordon's arsenal in the end of HL1, saying something like: "I took the liberty of relieving you of your weapons, most of them were government property afterall..." or something like that :e
So it's possible that the gauss will make a comeback ;/ (No idea how though.. maybe G-Man comes like "ok buddy here's the gun" :E )

Or maybe one of the scientists took the blueprints with him when he escaped from Black Mesa...

Sweet, I do hope the crossbow is back in this time around, was one of my fav weapons from the first one.

crossbow = same one from the first one. looks like it to me.

good stuff, cause it was the fastest way to killed people besides the revolver, but both have slow shooting times.

That makes sense why Gordon has the same arsenal about this time too.

True, its the colt magnum .45 , or .357 magnum, whatever! its the revolver. thats final!

I hav a crazy teory about the suposed new weapon who looks excatly to the iRifle

if you can ensamble that weapon?
for example you hav the basic ("new") weapon and you find some object that you can ensemble to the principal?
for example a scope or some device to make the weapon better?

is a crazy teory, pleas if is very stupid my teory dont bann me

my reazon of my teory is that the "new" weapon is not so huge that the iRifle that we know

its not crazy. no ones going to ban you for stating your theory about weapons in hl2 :)

that would be cool if you could add/remove parts of the weapon, maybe even when you take off certain parts, your guy could move faster because of less weight as a bonus

HL2 isn't a combat simulator.

I just bought the Premier issue of Gamestar (so proud of myself :) ) And they had an extensive article about the weapons. To share a little an be unselfish I would like to quote my new favorite magazine:

"His [Gordon's] arsenal consists of a crowbar, a pistol, grenades, a high-powered revolver, two types of shotguns, and a couple of different machine guns. And aside from the gravity gun (as much a supertoy as a weapon), a crossbow with a sniper scope is about as strange as it gets :sniper: (though a couple weapons are grayed out...they're still a secret).

Bow down and worship goldenboi! /mestopsplayhubris :p

Good find Goldenboi. I guess it's all for the best.
Do we really need that many weapons?
"That many weapons" ? Are you joking? In the original HL there was like 15 different weapons!

Rest assured there will be atleast 20 in the final game. (HL2)

The unknown gun that resembles the I-Rifile is some kind of HMG. Watch both of the video endings and just keep your eye on your teammates. Eventually you'll see them fire it in bursts and the flash illuminates the gun. Most noticeably in the second demonstration around 8:49 to 8:51. Oh and thats the Gamespot second demo video. Also at 8:58 you get an extreme close up of it right after firing. Got two pics of it.

You guys sure that "Irifle" isn't just some type of grenade launcher? Remember the launcher from AvP, where you could right click and swap out different ammo types(proximity mines, HE, incediary, ect)? It's one possible explaination why the gun set people on fire in the E32k3 vids and why it zaps people into dimension X now.

Besides, it looks too weird and cool to do just one thing.

PS: :afro: It's getting close! :afro:

Like someone said earlier, the flare takes 1 unit of ammo, and the vaporizer thing takes like 20. That means the vaporizer is the secondary fire.

Sounds good to me.
Plz agree people...

I totally disagree! I think that the Irifle should be able to shoot green danishes aswell..

Father Gregori's gun is a Henry Repeating Rifle. It isn't a shotgun.

Go do a google image search for that and you'll see.
