Out of this world laser gun (secondary fire causes an explosion)

(this is just for fun,no need to be storyline related or gameplay balanced)
 
Do you mean that you would like to see those in a mod, or you want them actually in the HL2 game?

I would like to see a mod with loads of guns etc.
 
the way you like more,vanilla or mod... and which ones would you like in that load of guns?

I want somebody to use the design for the Ion rifle I made, I made a model, but I have no idea how to animate it etc.

the redeemer should be easy to add as a secondary rpg fire,that consumes all your rockets and has 1/3 speed + 10X damage + 10X radius

the chainsaw needs a model,I'm pretty sure the horror mods in the making will contain one... The big lead pipe could be the stunstick in Substance 1.2. Somehow we could manage to have the Substance dagger cutting zombies in half,but I'm not sure...but we have a katana model available too. It's just from these days that I'm experimenting with explosive crossbow bolts: they're already done,but very hard to balance in the actual gameplay...they're like high speed rockets basically. Maybe if less powerful...
 
Ok, good stuff, have faith in you to be able to do whats needed to make the gameplay balanced or as effective as you wish. Great to see you can take our half boiled ideas and make them into something good.

has anybody in here ever played Metroid for the Gamecube? I never did,anything to suggest about its weapons or game mechanics to import?

Metroid Prime...If someone could include the Morph Ball, that would be great, I would love rolling around places like Nove Prospekt, dropping bombs. :)
 
i'd like to see some sort of gravity vortex thingy. If anyone's ever played the chaos mod for ut2004 you'll know what i'm talking about.

basically the gun shoots out a little black ball encased in some sort of sphere. after a few seconds out of the gun, the sphere breaks exposing the gravity vortex.

there's a lot of swirling, lightning, and rushing air. For about 10 seconds everything within 200 feet of it gets pulled in. the only way to survive it is to fall towards it at an angle that causes you to orbit around it.

It would be cool if in hl2, anything that goes into it gets disintegrated and if you managed to put 2 next to each other, they'd cancel out in a huge explosion.

I'm actually surprised there are no gravity changing things in HL2 other than the GG. I was kind of expecting gravity fields and stuff in the citadel. Especially as there is an option to change gravity on the Source engine.
 
What were you on about when you said vanilla or mod???

Yeah something like the gravity vortex would be fun. Especialy sicne it could pull al the physics objects towards it. l can picture one being fired in City 17 and all the rubbish on the floor, and all the other objects (breeze blocks, barrels, cars, etc.) moving into or towards the vortex. Maybe it would be better if the stuff didn't actually vanish at the centre, but went into orbit around it. When the vortex cuts out the orbits break and there is random debris flying all over the place.
 
ríomhaire: vanilla HL2 = HL2 with no mods on

the Gravity Vortex should be very possible,it wouldn't do anything diverse from a ggun that attires everything in its proximity to later explode. One could add the Strider blue cannon "breathing contraction" effect to the projectile in action. I'm sure Garry would be able to do this,since it's all physics related

the change gravity command is somewhat poor as show effects,I don't recommend it if not to simulate moonwalking...
 
Chemical spray from CnC Renegade could be great or FN P-90 from CS:Source...
 
"Cerebreal bore," or whatever it was called from Turok. You launched and then it found the people you were playing against and like drilled into their head and killed them.

Oh, and that rifle that made people jump around. That was funny as hell.

Ah...Turok is one of my favorite games. :)

I remember the cerebral bore from Turok 2,it was redone in Blood 2 too...we should have something similar when we'll add the stunstick with the secondary attack that spawns manhacks
 
that would be awesome, watching a manhack fly at a target's face and watch blood fly everywhere. craziness


another idea would be to make an object or character magnetic to physical objects.

like say there's a zombie and you zap him. Any buzzsaws, crates, exploding barrels in the immediate vicinity all fly towards him burying him in a pile of crushing junk. And maybe the more you zap your target, the heavier the stuff that will fly at it.
 
gravity weapons so far
- The gravity vortex
- The magnetization attack
- A psi-ops like attack where people rises to mid-air and is rendered harmless for some time
- a weapon that actually changes the gravity of the stage somersault or to the left or right,so you walk on walls (this would be best in a completely separated mod of course,maybe on Xen)

portal weapons
- the Displacer from OP4
- the portal from that Q1 mod: you set entry and exit points with primary and secondary,then you can move from a place to another or also shoot rockets inside
 
how about a target painter that makes a napalm airstrike to occur.

like you'll hear an airplane roar overhead and then a canister falls from the sky and sets an area ablaze in one huge rolling fireball! Useful for clearing the roof of rocket whores in overwatch
 
I expect something new to the upcoming HL2 expansion.
