...What is this shit? Is this some kind of sick tabloid or something?

Christians are going nuts over this.

I admit though, China seems to have way too much influence over the UN. You know, if US officials were really interested in fixing the economy, they would abandon the UN, (which is corrupt anyways) and ban oversea job outsourcing. This would bring back alot of value to the US dollar without having to resort to anything so drastic. The US really needs to start thinking about it's own well-being and not the diplomacy of the rest of the f**king universe for a change.

EDIT>This probably should have gone into politics. I dunno.

I actually have very little problems with global currency. It'd just make things easier.

They were mentioning something about it being "cashless."

Last time I checked, people have been getting online banking accounts hijacked left and right due to phishing scams and spyware.

There's no way I'd hand over absolute trust to a computer with my money. Banks rely too much on them already to begin with. Bring back the human element you lazy f**kers!

Hell, even my PC crashed just last night.

Obviously cashless is silly, but I think a global currency could be convenient. People threw a fit about the Euro at first but I think that's working out, isn't it?

I figured it might be something like the euro, but cashless?

F**king ridiculous.

EDIT> Shame too about the euro. It was just starting to get popular over there. :p

Science Fiction has gone with cashless for a long time, because it really is a good idea. The reality, however, is that the world is nowhere near ready for it.

Silly saturos. Saying "**** OFF FOREIGNERS! WE'LL MAKE OUR OWN DAMN ECONOMY" and cutting ourselves off from the rest of the world is just about as drastic.

No, not trade routes and such, but I'm talking more of the "big brother" role the US constantly plays in terms of military involvement. Nobody seems to appreciate it anyways, so why waste time and resources? Rather, why fight meaningless wars under false pretenses for the benefit of private industry?

If other countries do appreciate the US's meddling, then the media sure doesn't cover these moments anymore.

I agree. Current PC technology in terms of network security and availability is shite for a task like this.

It would never work with our current IS infrastructure.

Well, it's not like the US is its own planet. Things that happen on Earth do kind of still affect us, you know. Make no mistake, the US is one way or another doing it for its own benefit.

I suppose your right.

NK is a good example. Kim Jong Ill is still trying to maintain his sovereign power while trying to isolate the region, but consistently fails miserably due to the lack of food and resources. Instead, they are forced to use unscrupulous fear monger tactics in the form of breaching the sanctions against it's nuclear programme in an attempt to hold a ransom against the UN for moar raw goods and supplies.

The US however is a large country. It can more than hold it's own for now as far as resources goes until it gets back on it's feet. We just need to bring the industries, BACK OVER HERE!!!

1984 put it almost right on the currency issue. didn't it go by 3 world currencies? i remember hearing about this prediction recently too from Alex Jones but I stopped following when I realized he was a nutcase and paranoid fanatic. but I don't really fear a one world currency. if we set up a moon base and mars base, and people start living there i guess its time for everyone to be on the same page

I vote for "rape dollars". It's an endless resource!

I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure there isn't enough farmland in the US that we could even feed all of the people here.

I'm sure the US doesn't produce enough oil to survive on it's own. Like it or not you need others.

If the US even tried for autarky it would certainly cause an absolutely massive stock market crash, whether they can succeed or not.

I have nothing against the USA cutting itself off from the rest of the world.

Sure, it might hurt for a bit, but in the end, we'd be better off without an immature cowboy invading countries worldwide just because he can.

The US can't go it alone.

I predict a US-India superstar tag team to form in an attempt to contain China.

European Union has always been using Euro as currency.

Elites exist in every country right?

Well the elite int the US tries to balance maintaining its position of power, whilst encouraging globalisation through which it enriches itself.

Ever since the Law of Comparitive Advantage was discovered elites have moved from promoting mercantilism to promoting capitalism. An increased volume of global trade benefits those at the top table far more than anyone else.

European Union has always been using Euro as currency.

European Union established - 1st November, 1993 linky

Euro introduced 1 January 1999 linky

Though it would be accurate to say that the European Union has always been commited to using the Euro (except the UK & Denmark and Sweeden simply fails to meet the economic requirements to avoid having to join because they decided they didn't want it after it had already been agreed)

Well y'know guys, I could go into why having no competition would breed a terrible, inflated, and unreliable currency...but no one here is ever willing to listen to logic when it comes to economics.

As to a one-world government?

They're joking, right? You'd never be able to pull it off.

Why are you generalizing an entire group of people?

I could generalize Buddhists as being antisocial, atheists as being know-it-all dicks. Your generalizations show more about you than the people you criticize.

Actually, the agnostics are know-it-all dicks.
