Newbie: don't know what to do right at beginning of game HL2

Hi, I'm newbie of HL2. I just started this game 2 hours ago.

1. I went upstairs through this stairs and jump through the window(See hl2_01.jpg).
2. I went to large street, then turned right (See hl2_02.jpg).
3. I went to place which have a stairs, I went upstairs then jump over to the oposite.
(See hl2_03.jpg).
4. Then I went to this place. Then I go in to a door with white lamp at the left of
captured screen.(See hl2_04.jpg).
5. Finally I'm stuck here: (See hl2_05.jpg).
- I cannot go straight anymore.
- If I turned right to go to opened door. 3 polices from somewhere will run quickly
to me than hit me until I become knockout at the floor.
- If I go back downstairs, another 1 police not allow me to go to the outside of this house.

So, what I need to to, to go, which key I will pressed?
Please help me. I need your help.
I'm sorry for my bad English.

He's done all that and is trying to get past the next bit.

OP, there should be a man who calls you from that door and tells you to go up to the roof.

I could not pickup anything.

And did you know where is it?

There should be a man standing in the doorway seen in your pic hl2_05.jpg. If there's no-one there I suggest you go into Steam and validate the game files.

You are right. There is a man in opened door of the right screen hl2_05.JPG.
And he told me something that I not understood (my english is bad).
So I must:
- Turn right into opendoor of the right screen hl2_05.JPG.
- Then qucikly go up to the roof before 3 polices hit me knockout to floor?

OK, after you meet the man, keep going through that room until you get to the next bit of the corridor, then go up the stairs at the end of the corridor. Basically follow the route shown in these pictures:

How can I press it to make it go up or down? I pressed button E with no luck.

Just walk into the elevator, and she'll follow you in. Then the elevator will descend. Where did you get your copy of Half Life 2?

HL2 was my first game also. I didn't know I should listen to the NPC (Non Player Character) but I made it through ok.

That is Alyx Vance a main character who should make the elevator move. You do not do anything to make it move except get inside it with Alyx.

It's sounding more and more like the AI of the NPCs in your game has been disabled. You won't be able to continue properly unless you:
1) type ai_disabled 0 in the console
2) if that doesn't work, buy a legitimate copy of the game.

Y'know, I do believe Half-life 2 is available in japanese. If it is, all you have to do is choose Japanese as your steam language under settings. It sounds like this might help you alot.

I just checked, HL2 isn't localised into Japanese. Not even subtitles.
