News about update with the option to downlaod HL2, true?

well, we all know how steam hasnt been able to log us into the Friends sction.

Gone today, back tomorrow.

The Friends messaging service is being taken offline today in order to fix several issues people are having. It will be back tomorrow. Stronger, faster, better.

im guessing that this patch will also include the option to download HL2, the "going gold" that was probably meant for tomorrow. What are your views on this update? will there be more to it than just this friends patch? :cheers: i hope to god it will go gold 2morrow, and well be able to start downloading HL2 on steam!

Actually, I think this is just an update to the Friends servers not the Steam Client.

Wow, so Steam actually works at all for some people? I haven't been able to connect since the recent update. Anyone know why? (btw I use a Linksys router, and I forwarded the ports as instructed on the Steam site).

umm, i have a D-Link router, but i didnt have to change anything....yet.... i duno what people are finding so hard about steam, its been such a beauty for me guess im just one of the lucky ones...

Now how the heck did you get "HL2 is going gold tomorrow!" out of "Steam friends server is down for some fixes!"? I am a bit confused...

well sorry if i confused you, but according to spitcodfry (i hope thats how u spell his name) it was written in one of his threads that the game (HL2) will go gold (or i should say "Should") this week. Thus when it does, there will be a patch for Steam which will give us the option to pay for steam, and download HL2 through Steam. Sorry if im wrong...
