If you bought hl2 on steam you will not have a problem but if you plan to buy retail you may have a problem:

HL2 Classified R18+ by PEGI: Possibly Banned in Australia?

The folks over at Sumea have posed an interesting question: will HL2 be refused classification in Australia in the light of the Pan European Games Information (PEGI) rating of R18+ given to HL2? In Australia, no games have been accepted as R18+ titles meaning that HL2 will need to be given MA15+ (or below) certification to be sold in Australia.

The Australian Office of Film & Literature Classification (OFLC) is yet to classify HL2, but I'm sure most Aussie gamers who have been waiting over 5 years for the most-anticipated game will be keeping their eyes peeled on the OFLC website to see if HL2 receives a rating. Given that games such as the Soldier of Fortune series and Doom 3 received approval (which were also rated R18+ by PEGI), it seems highly unlikely that HL2 will be refused certification.

This is old news. Look at the date that news was posted, we've had a few threads on this. :)

pffft..... why don't people like read or search or think before creating a new thread..... anyway.. i was talking about this thread.... definetely not.....

Australia will not... look at doom3..... many games that get R+18 overseas..... don't get banned they always get MA+15 in Aus.....we are dumb and OFLC in Aus is stupid not having a R+18 option for more realistic games and more violent games which will definetely be possible with the quality of engines these days...... i think game companies even have to stop making their games realistic so that they won't get banned.... like e.g. look at the blood effects in hl2 binks... they are trying to be unrealistic at the same time as realistic so that they don't get banned.....

hmmm........ It is fine! I think Australia will 100% ban porn game

I knew it wouldnt be banned.

well that is all I got to say :d

Ps: DarkGhost86, It's Warhammer 40k Not 4k.

Censorship of video games in Australia is something that makes me mad. Grand Theft Auto 3 and VC were both altered, I don't know about san andreas.

The OFLC believes video games are still chiefly a child dominated form of entertainment.

I got GTA : SA. From what i've seen it is 100X worse then the other 2. Still not sure if it was altered in anyway.

It's not the OFLC, it's the government for not introducing an R18+ rating for video games. If we had that, no games would need to be banned or altered.

If it bothers people, just buy it normally, then DL a UK or US version and use that.. you paid for it so your not screwing them really.

The OFLC controls the rating systems and is a government agency, they reviewed them relatively recently, and merged film and video game classifications. Yet they decided not to have an R18+ rating for video games, because of the reason I stated above.

By the way, this is the first time I have been able to post in months. Every time I attempted to reply I was greeted with a blank white screen.
