Just a thought about the front page news, wouldn't it be nice to have a topic title at the top of each news post on the main page? Something like Official (for official Valve info) Unofficial (News from people other than Valve, but they're still kinda reliable) Community (News about the forum of Half-Life 2's fans doing something, rule changes, art contests, etc.).

Just a thought I had.

We could color code the titles to correlate with these three categories, kinda like the Terror Alerts here in the U.S. mmmm... Skittles with anthrax.

Or people could actually read the articles and work it out for themselves? :)

Yes they could also do that. But that would take an extra few seconds. Anyways this would just be an accesory thing, for quick scrolling to reference news actually from Valve (far and few between, also can't really be trusted) news about the community or news about articles concerning Half-Life 2 from gaming websites and such.

Plus I hope when the game is actually released news will come at a much faster pace and be a bit lengthier to boot. That's where I see titles like these fitting in. But I know I'm in no position to tell you guys how the news should be handled so I'll be happy with whatever happens since this is a great site anyways.

You're in every position to have a say. You are, after all, part of our community :)

Your idea is interesting but as the news page works off forum posts it'd be up to the poster to remember adding some sort of coloured text before his article. It would have to be a manual thing.

News is news. However, I'd probably separate Half-Life2 news and mod news. They're different and readers would benefit a separatation of what the topic they want to read as opposed to the source of the news.
