from www.halflifesource.com:

"We at Half-Life Source had a chance to speak with Valve's Doug Lombardi regarding the Fragmaster accusations about the company. Doug Lombardi has read the thread posted on here and has stated, "I have no idea where Fragmaster gets his information".

Doug Lombardi went on to say that Valve is near completion for the upcoming sequel to HL that will be released this summer. In addition, they will have a new demo available at E3 for everyone to get a closer look at the progress. "This game is going to knock your socks off..."

A new demo to watch @ e3 , that's good news :)

I can't wait

Right, like mr. Lombardi was going to agree with Frag's statement.

Ya... who cares what Valve says anyway. I think it is funny we are going to get another demo of "scripted" on the fly gameplay and we are supposed to be excited!?!?

He just said that he doesn't know where fragmaster gets his information, i wouldn't be suprised if it was true

stupid ten char limit...

Well there are only so many ways you can describe a reaction to some1's information.

it doesnt strike me as odd that both Gabe and Doug would say similar things.

you have to remember that Doug lombardi is a PR guy, he is not supposed to contradict the company and oftenly just rehashes things already known.

wich is why there is a resembalance in his and Gabes answer.

basicly yes the site did talk to doug, all they got was a more in deapth responce from the PR guy (wich is to be expected)

i see this as good news and advise my fellow HL2 fans to do so as well.

lol HL Source? they get all there info from other sites then twist it or reword it to make it sound exclusive, it probbally was gabes quote they just changed it to doug to make it sound like they had done there own research, we know there will be new stuff at E3, its just rehashing old infomation.

I wonder if some of the time they spent during the delay was to upgrade the graphics a little, as well as fine tune the gameplay, A.I. system, and all that kinda stuff. From what I heard about the beta , the A.I. wasn't as good as they were leading on. Anyway, that's cool there will be a new demo at e3. I'm guessing they will showcase the game at e3 to get everyone hyped again, then release HL2 within the next month or two.

*get's on knees and prays*

hm, perhaps Doug would say something similar to what Gabe said, but exactly the same?

It seems that 'news' item is simply a collection of details collected from the 'Info from VALVe' thread, their info doesn't look particularly new.

Buh, it is almost(note: almost) obvious that HL2 is avaible this summer.

No matter what stores say(like anybody would trust them anyways), I say that HL2 is buyable this summer. har har pwnz

If hl2source "stole" information from the valve thread and changed the authors name and spiced it up a bit they could be sued.

therefor it is real and it was doug that said it, Email valve if you dont belive me.

ROFLMAOOL

Im excited :p It will be the first new HL2 stuff we have seen since... i forget, a long time

Has anybody thought of the possibility that this will be a playable demo? Or maybe a demo that is played for us by a person......

They couldn't just rehash gameplay fottage and expect people to be as impressed as they were last summer............

Oh man I have to sneak into E3............ ;)

I've always wondered why i should live in LA, and now I know! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

acctully theres a very good possibility of a playable demo, valve are part of the sneak preview program at the conference the day before, they always bring playable versions to those, its the whole point lol.

Well I wont mind if they just release a video, as long as it is NEW and i dont mean new by "Take from what the game was like last summer" new, i mean new like "BRAND NEW FROM THE UPDATED GAME ENGINE" new... But im GUESSING it will be playable, since alll the big game magazines are being given a playable demo.

It will not be a playable demo release, it might be a demo that is playable at e3 though.

I sort of wish they'd do a public demo, because Half-Life: Day One was one of the things that made HL HUGE. But they don't seem inclined to at this point (though I'm sure there will be a public demo AFTER the game comes out for real), so probably not worth getting your hopes up. I'm sure they are pissed that so many so called fans downloaded the leak: hardly makes them want to reward people with a pre-game release demo.

this is just another confirmation of what many of us already believe: valve is going to steal the show at e3 once again. this is good news.

They should release a public demo on steam, that would really test steam plus get ALOT of new subscribers to it, which might boost the sales of hl2 via steam and the overall sale of hl2.

Thats just my 0.2$

Well the magazines got to play the game in March. I presume it will be a similar affair at e3 but with a larger group of journalists. Whether it will be the same part of the game or not, or how it'll work, who knows. I strongly doubt we will get a playable demo, but rather a few more juicy videos to build up the hype again. I'm reckoning e3 will be used to kick start Valve's promotion with HL2 being released in June.

Altho we will be getting tonnes of new info and screenshots come April 29th and it'll gradually build up to e3.

PCZ comes out, current thinking is the valve NDA is lifted then

The NDA stops on the 29th my friend. Which means magazines can start printing gallor!

Which is nice! :E

Well, I say 'tonnes' through hope more then anything, but yeah, we'll certainly get new stuff to chew over. Once the embargo is lifted, PC Zone will publish, followed by PC Gamer 2 weeks later, and of course many internet based media sources as well. Infact, the net sources will probably have more up-to-date info then the mags for obvious reasons.

It will just be new screenshots from the old locations. But we will see the engine as it was in march.

Obviously every single gaming magazine will show pics and news on HL2, ut i refuse to read them and watch them. (yes u heard me)

why? well i want to enjoy HL2 to the fullest when i buy it and play it.

i'm not going to pull a Matrix: Reloaded. :flame:

I'm just glad that theres a new demo at E3 !! :naughty:

yes!!!, gabe said it was going to come out this summer on the 19th i think, not sure and he says the entire game is playable. So, Its definitely gonna be here by this summer. lets just hope, this is gonna be so great.

actually, that's a pretty good idea. i try to get friends to dl steam, but they say it messes up their computer somehow, but this would be some good incentive to get people onto steam

(even though hl2 will bring those same people and more even w/out demo.. but yeah testing steam's bandwidth ... good call)

He meant...

"Gabe said on the 19th, that HL2..."

I bet Doug Lombardi is lying. He knows very well that everyone's socks will be secure inside of their shoes...when will this man's treachery stop?

lol, damn those sock springs aint what they used to be

Seriously though, Doug Lombardi is about the equivilant of Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf when it comes to credibility.
