Playstation controllers have a very fun story.
When Nintendo put a joystick on their controller, Sony naturally copied them. When they put the analogue sticks on, they had a huge deadzone. (The area in which you can move the stick without it actually registering.) Sony, not wishing to be put laughed out of the console world before thay had barely started, insisted that they meant to do it. So, they had to keep it the same for the PS2. 'Tis quite funny...
