What maps are you looking forward to and should they release next?

I remember playing this horrible looking forest map.

There was this huge field in the middle of the forest, and it was littered with trenches and underground tunnels. The axis have access to concrete bunkers that can become machinegun/missile bays, and the US have to try and storm the base using the trenches and tunnels. The Axis also had access to these huge mortars that'd rain hell on unfortunate US troops.

After you get past the field, there was a big bridge that was over a huge river/canyon type thing. There was a waterfall at one end that was connected to a US tunnel.

Then there was a small village that the Axis started out on. The village was connected to a network of tunnels, or you could run through the main road, over the bridge, then into the battlefield.

I don't think it was official, but that was one of my favorites.

Um, that was an official map to the best of my knowledge. It was called forest and it was new with 3.0 I believe.

I miss dod_dog1 and dod_schwetz.
 
definitely dod_charlie first, as long as it isn't all bright and happy looking like the way the dod team already f*cked donner up :((imo).

And if they did another map after that, maybe they could make a totaly new one! :D
 
I thought everyone hated dod_charlie.

I would have to say forest, because that would look awesome in source. They would need a lot of new content though.

Forest would be awesome too, and new content > running around a map with Northern Petrol containers laid about instead of wooden barrels. ;-) hooray for canned texture CSS maps! </sarcasm>
 
Has to be dod_charlie.

We already have 4 flag capping maps we need an awesome objective map now. Dod_charlie yes.
 
Something more slow-paced. The new maps are too fast, dod needs more maps like dod_schwetz. I also miss the dark pre-steam dod maps like dod_zafod and dod_thunder. Some d-day map would be nice too.
 
I don't care as long as it's caen, jagd, switch, charlie, omaha, schwetz, saints, or forest.

There's another map or two that I liked, but I can't think of the name(s) at the moment.
 
SAINTS! I love that map.

But an objective map would probably be better.

Next update should be dod_omaha and caen.

Saints would be sick.. or Krafstoff, but no Charlie, everyone hated Charlie before, have you all changed your minds? Omaha at least..

Actually I think they were definitely planning to do charlie because in the .gcf, theres a few allied starting round voices where the dude yells things like
"Move up and clear the wire men!"
"Move up the beach and blow that wire!"
Stuff like that, so I'm guessing that was meant for a beach map like charlie (not anzio because there's no wire)
 
I like omaha way better than charlie.

And I completely forgot about Caen. Wasnt that map super popular before, and then all of the sudden its out of pub servers, and not in league rotations. I love Caen, so I take back my forest vote, and replace it with a Caen vote.
 
I want Caen.

I also want Saints.

And Forest, but no one's gonna remake it.

Charlie would lag like a bitch on any machine, so I don't care about that.

charlie's bigger than caen and saints :p at least as far as view distance goes, but now that i think about it caen and saints both have large areas too.
 
ok, now this has been bugging me, what is the map that is "like" avalanch

except that it starts out with those smoke grenades at both spawns

you know, it has a courtyard with a church and some uphill fighting, god i loved that map (but i cant remember the name damn it!)

thats the next map they should make...

Any of the maps from 1.3b - 3.1b but in particular I'd like to see dog1, Schwetz(was a great idea to have switching spawns...shame it never caught on), Sicily, Hill and Oslo (1st version only, not the crappy "bombed out" version).
 
I will cry if it's forest. I hated that map, it doesn't fit the DoD gameplay at all.

I didn't play DOD, I found it stupid and boring, but I do love Source.

I don't think that DoD gameplay is as rigid as you consider it to be. When I look at maps like Forest and Hill, I don't see bad maps, I see a multi-faceted game*. This is the beauty of Day of Defeat.

Incidentally, it's very hard to choose. There have been so many maps that engaged me so fully in DoD that it's difficult to tell. Omaha was the original epitome of the beach assault which inspired later DoD beach maps and even UT assault maps. Omaha was great because it was so damn difficult to get past those neverending waves of grenades and shell fire exploding around you to make it up to the top. DoD has changed a lot since then but it would be nice to see a beach map (even if it was a small one) that kept the action on the beach and the objectives on the frontline so that plays could be made for key areas along the chain of defence to punch holes and take objectives. The map would culminate in the last objective point being heavily defended and an epic "last stand"-style battle.

I'd like a beach map. A mindless, wave upon wave, pubplay, beach map.

P.S. Also high on my list would be one of those guerilla-tactics maps like Kalt. The city's dead but the suspense and drama is very vivid. Finding little nooks and crannies in which to hide in among the debris and set up killing zones. Moving in groups to lure a shot from the sniper, giving his position away to the surviving members of the squad. <3 Kalt.
 
What's the one where you have to blow up the bridge? That one's fun.
