nForce4

how much difference does a chipset really make?

Benchmarks that mention PCI-Express, AMD and even SLI in the same sentence are not far off.
/drools

1 day I wish they would make a seperate mobo for video only, that all we do is update the chip and have a huge heatsink with DDR2 mem slots to use 1GB, ok ok thats far fetched but what the hey. build one ASUS ill test it.

Soundstorm2 is a feature of the chipset, just not these early reference boards.

nForce4 is definately a performance chipset, look at the benchmarks!

/me drools

Still planning on getting one of these as soon as they come out. :)

oh and with SLI i can imagine ALL the top 10 futuremark hall of fame scores will be AMD and Nvidia based

hah yep

I'll be watching nForce4 and PCI-Express very closely.
Don't think I'll go SLI but maybe the next good PCI-Express GFX card. Remember, I have a CompUSA replacement plan on my card. "Oh no! my card broke. Gimmie that one." muhaha

Damn, I would like to go with that mobo but......X800 XT PE...... :(

yes. and i know what you're saying despite what i said. but others might not, so it would be helpful for them for you to form complete sentences

ok..........

nForce4 will cover both AGP and PCI-Express. Their Ultra model is AGP and their SLI model is PCI-Express.

Interesting, how good OC board is the AGP version?

Since I'll buy 3000+ 90nm and overclock it to 2.6+ ghz

A day to drool for Athlon lovers...I myself am actually looking forward to the new athlons with the nForce4 for once, because it will fiinally support PCI-E

6 sata ports :bounce:

Hopefully ports 1 and 2 have a lock on them so I dont **** up my computer when im overclocking. Not that im getting a new mb.

There seem to be a few problems with the one I have and im not the only one, if you go to the msi forums. Dang memory wont run at 1t :flame: even though it runs fine at 1t on other systems.

That's wierd. My MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum (S754) board can run t1 with my PC2700 Corsair at 2-2-2-5 @ 191MHz.
I have a SATA Raptor drive.

They said that the SLI boards would be coming out late this year and early next year, but i dont think they said how long it will take for the normal and ultra nf4 to come out. Does anyone have any information about this, or are they supposed to all come out at the same time? As soon as these come out, Im pretty sure Ill be upgrading.

Uh oh, looks like there is some more competition. Link

Note: Competition must be said in Strong Bad's voice.

Ya I fixed it so that I can run at 1t now. But unfortanatly when I run at 2-2-2-5 or 2-2-2-7 the memory seems to give out after about a half hour because the dual channel slots on my motherboard are so close togethor and the memory is getting way to hot. If I relax the timings to 2-2-3-5 or 2-2-3-7 the memory runs fine. And I dont know if ocz will RMA my memory because I only get 3 errors in memtest.

Good point.

Lets screw ocz for all its worth. :p

Not that I hate them because they have been very good to me in the best.

Will they let me choose the memory I want or will they pick for me because my memory has been discontinued? I was really hoping to get some of the rev 2 memory that runs at 2-2-2-5 at 433mhz. That memory is "wicked sick". I have seen it go all the way up to 550mhz at 3-4-4-8
