I'd hate to actually be in that room for anything other than choosing a game to play...

How is this any different than any other hobby or collection? If it makes the guy happy, whats the problem? Some people collect cards, bottlecaps, marbles, stamps, pocketwatches, coins, historical items, etc. How is this any different?

The guy probably has a life outside that room? Why? Because anyone able to afford that much stuff must be pretty well off with a decent paying job. For all we know he could have been building this collection for at least 10 years or longer.

ps: Someone pointed out the sad thing was he probably actually played all of the games, and to that I say:

The sad thing he probably hasn't. But then it just sort of makes it no different than any other collection. However, this guy is a little excessive I'll admit.
 
Why is it sad to have played all those games? I must have watched hundreds of thousands of hours of TV, and I don't even like it. I don't see how him playing that is any worse than watching television, something billions of people do. If anything its better...
 
We should go over to his house and put the games in the wrong boxes.

I've got a hobby too...racing R/C electronic cars and my car+accesories is worth in the region of £1500-2000, everyone has a hobby and most are very expensive because with a hobby you don't care how much it costs because it usually brings you more joy than anything else in the world... and he has a hobby of collecting games...whats the problem with that? :dozey:
 
Well, I do have a expensive hobby myself (airsoft), but that doesn't compare with that freakin' room, I dare to claim. If he's rich, ok...

No but it does because a hobby is something you enjoy doing in your spare time and this guy enjoy's collecting games, he just took it to the next level by creating a Nintendo room pretty much...no more different than if i got all my R/C gear out and layed it accross my floor, or if i had a garage and kept it all in there, it would be a "room" of my hobby, like his "room" of his hobby.

He must have spent about $100,000 on all that crap, that is more than just a hobby. If he had that much porno I would say there is somthing wrong with him too.
 
There are people that have much more expensive hobbies. Some people collect boats and yachts (for example), which are thousands and thousands of dollars each. I don't really see the point of making fun of this guy. If you read on his site he says he has been collecting since 1980 (thats 25 years he's been collecting). Apparently it's not safe to have a hobby without people making fun of you on the internet.
 
i dont mind the collecting games but a bed shaped like the snes, come on...
 
Chances are he's just collected all that stuff over time, never selling off any of the games or systems he's had. So it may have been tens of thousands of dollars, but thats spread out over atleased 13 years.
 
That's gonna be some nest egg for when he retires from ... collecting games ...
 
For everyone who has put down this guy I have one word to say, jealous. Come on who would not want that room and all the stuff. Just because he is better than you does not mean you should put him down. He has got nothing on me though, I had a mario hat when i was 6 or so and it has mario and luigi on a rock surrounded by sharks (all my friends think it is awesome)!

Uhhhh, I wouldn't want that room, I can think of tons of better things to do with that money than just buying a bunch of gaming stuff, maybe like...a huge TV w/ 5.1 surround and a wall of music and DVD's, or....a car. Plus, do you think he actually plays half of those?
