Squares A and B in the above picture are actually the same colour. Believe you me, I checked it in photoshop.

Yep, it's a neat trick.

Also, if you "tile" a floor or a wall, if you use different colored mortar, for example white or brown, one color for the wall and one for the floor, then use the same colored tiles, they will look as if they are different colored, yet they are the same.

That's insane! My brain is lying to me! Stupid relative color association!

argh! Scary, ok, please, brain work! And I should be able to tell the difference!

That is so crazy!! Best illusion I've ever seen.

wtf, i'm pulling out photoshop as we speak!

edit: omg, that is insane

yeah, i remember disbelievingly checking it in photoshop. mindblowing, eh?

is it because B is surrounded by darker tiles, giving the impression that it is lighter? I'd find out for myself but I don't have photoshop available...

Something like that. Your brain knows (thinks) it's in shadows, so automatically makes it lighter in your perception of it. Or something :x

See before, it's got to be the best one i've seen though.

I don't see it. I see Square A and Square B to be different shades of gray.
What the...?

Exactly! Seriously, they are the same! Cover up most of the picture with your hands, you'll see they're the same.
