Any of you other NiN fans fot this? A bunch of mixes from tracks on The Downward Spiral, is pretty cool. Despite it only being my second NiN album after With Teeth, i can truly appreciate the diversity of Trent's work, while remaining very succesful and strong in his records.

God bless them

hehe
well then...if you love the remixes, the originals only get better :P
get "The Downward Spiral" and "The Fragile" albums...both are similar in that they are layered music.. "The Fragile" moreso than the other..
in the opinion of most NiN fans, "The Fragile" is Trents best piece of work...musically anyway...so yeah, this album is a must have.

and seems like im showing no love to the "Pretty Hate Machine" album but its just as good as the rest but for starters, get "The Fragile"
you won't be disappointed. :P

I agree with "The Fragile" as being the best album, but all are great for different reasons. I don't have it (Further Down), myself, but I'm going to be getting into a great deal of money soon. I plan to buy all the "side-" albums.

Lol, yeah there is a stupidly large number of NiN fans here, or so it seems :O

What do you suggest next, Downward Spiral, or The Fragile?

The Fragile is his best album, hands down. It actually hurts me a little inside whenever Trent poo-poos on it and that it was given such a cold shoulder on its release. It shows a greater variation of texture and sound than his other albums, and it really does have some lovely tunes. Really, if you want all facets of Reznor, the album has it. The groovy, watery tune of "La Mer". The death-techno machinery of "Underneath It All". The grandiose, over-produced atmosphere of "The Wretched". Yeah, it's all good shit.

Further Down The Spiral was good, but a lot of it seemed redundant, and some of the remixes are questionable. The dancey remix of "Piggy" is interesting, and I love the ****ing flute remix of "Eraser", but do we really need three separate tracks of the same thing ("Art Of Self Destruction")? Can the Aphex Twin interludes (bless his soul) count as remixes? Meh. Things Falling Apart is a far superior remix album. You can tell the artists put a lot more effort into distorting, twisting, and utterly bashing the shit from the material they were given to work with, and the result is far more satisfying.

But no remix shall ever top "Fist ****" from the Fixed EP. Only the hardest of the hardcore can listen to that and truly like it.

I dont like remix albums with lots of the same song on. Thats what really puts me off NiN, most of the music is repeats and reworkings of old songs... With Teeth was a breath of fresh air and i liked it, i prefer it over his other work... most of which i think really is a load of depressing noise that i just cant distinguish or realy relate to. I appreciate he's a good song writer, but i do think he's pretty pretentious.

I love Further Down the Spiral.

I also like With Teeth, The Fragile, and The Downward Spiral equally, but I highly recommend you get The Downward Spiral next and then the Fragile asap afterwards.

Nothin' like a bit of Reptile, or I Do Not Want This...

You need to distinguish between the actual LP's and the remix EP's. His actual album releases couldn't be more different from each other. And if there's a good artist behind the remix, it's totally different from the original.

Case in point: Charlie Clouser's remix of Star****ers.
