Free album in just over a minute, awesome. Lets take a listen.

It's not omgwtfbbq awesome, but it has its moments.

I find myself with "Lights in the Sky" on repeat, despite how simplistic it is. I love the sinister piano in the chorus.

Rest of the songs are so full of sonic bursts that they meld into one another easily. Discipline and Echoplex excluded.

No complaints though, it's free!

Well for christs sake, it's free. FREE! Listening now.

sweet. an hour into it and 0.8% complete. D:

It might be a couple days before I have it, but it will be crispy clean.

yes I actually do have a 24 bit audio system Kenetic. Also I can rip the 24bit lossless to MP3's for my portable.

Creative X-Fi is 24 bit, and Winamp supports it if you go into preferences and tick the 'allow 24 bit audio' box.

I really like it. The tracks do sound kinda similar, ala With Teeth. But it's free, and I honestly wasn't expecting much different. It just sounds like a few jam-sessions-turned-tracks that they could give to the fans. I think my favorite currently is "The Four Of Us Are Dying" just because it manages to sound so cool and ominous at the same time. I'm all for these kinds of releases if it means work from the guy more regularly. :)

Now he just needs to make The Fragile II.

Agreed, definitely my favorite as of right now.

I think "Echoplex" is quite good as well once it gets going.

Damn it, how long to I have to wait for my download link to be e-mailed?!

I've been waiting about an hour for my email.

I got my email after 2-3 minutes and the download was fast, but that was pretty early this morning so server load might be considerably worse now.

I'll upload it to my ftp (the mp3 version). PM me for link if you arent getting the email. File is 88mb zipped.

Are these albums on par with his retail releases, such as year zero, with teeth, or the downward spiral? I'm all for this new business model; but I would rather pay $20.00 for another downward spiral caliber album then a free album that I'll never listen to. It's not that I appreciate what he's doing; its just you get what you pay for.

Had this album had a few more tracks, I mean, 2 instrumentals (one is a slightly changed ghosts song, give me a break) and a short intro, I would say its better than Year Zero.

really cool. I'm starting to not like their music, but I'm really starting to like their marketing.

Oh god, I came so much, I needed to change my pants 6 times!

I have to say, I've found this album rather lackluster. It felt very empty and simple. :dozey:

It's a good jam album to listen to every once in awhile. Other than that... eh. I dunno. I really liked Corona Radiata and The Four Of Us Are Dying, other than those two: meh.

Edited for Final Opinion:

After listening a few times, I think that this is a great album, full of songs that were a wonderful change in style for my taste in music. Letting You is my favourite song on the album, followed by Discipline, then 1,000,000. Demon Seed after that, then The Four of Us are Dying, then Head Down, Echoplex, Lights in the Sky, Corona Radiata and finally 999,999.

I like what he's doing but honestly, enough filler Trent. Give us a hint on Year Zero 2.

Why is it that everyone likes the instrumental songs? Don't get me wrong, I like the instrumentals, but one is quite long, and I heard the other one on Ghosts I-IV.

I have to say, I've found this album rather lackluster. It felt very empty and simple. :dozey:

You sure you weren't listening to Year Zero? Hahah, I joke, I joke. And on that note, Year Zero 2 isn't going to happen and I don't think thats a bad thing at all.

I really really like "Letting You" now. Every time I put it on I wanna go kick somebody's teeth in.

I imagine people like the instrumentals because:
A) They're good.
B) A fair few here are quite accustomed to and appreciative of lengthy, vocal-less music from other artists.

Yeah, I imagine the love for the instrumentals is due to the fact that the NIN group on this board has very heavy crossover with the electronica group, thus many of us have a certain extended appreciation for vocal-less stuff.

I actually quite like this album (just like I like every other NIN album). It's not TDS or The Fragile, but it's pretty damn good. Letting You, 1,000,000, The Four of Us are Dying, and Corona Radiata are all good, and the others are very listenable if not wonderful.

Head down, Echoplex and The Four of us are Dying are awesome. The rest aren't as memorable.

Personally, I like everything but the instrumentals, and Lights in the Sky, but I just love vocals that much. (I'm not too hot for Echoplex though)

After Ghosts came out I was hoping for less instrumentals, I like what we got though.

Ha, I like how the artwork for Letting You is the logo for A.I.R. from Year Zero.

I like the first track. It's too short though.

Head Down is damn cool. Reminds me of older stuff. That's as far as I got in the album so far, and the one I like so far. Hopefully you have subs, or you are missing the song.

I got the 24 bit Wav. I've never heard a recording that sounds this HQ, BTW.

4608 Kbps. lol.

I have to say, I really like this album. it's not phenomenal, but it's very very good.

'Letting You' - I can't help but feel like he is talking to his fans with the lyrics.

I really like all of the songs.

1,000,000 is my least favorite. I don't think I'll ever intentionally listen to it again.

The rest are great. The vocals are fantastic, and the tracks are unique and fresh sounding.

NIN is the kind of music to me, where I'll either love a song, or not like it at all. There is rarely an in between. It's weird like that.

BTW I think that Year Zero was extremely complex compared to this, but that doesn't really factor in to whether I like a song or not.
